major: International Business

Prerequisites (21 credits)

21 semester hours are required. A grade of "C" or better is required in all prerequisites.

Core Requirements (18 credits)

18 semester hours are required. A grade of "C" or better is required in all core courses. MAN4720 is taken in a student's last semester.

Major Requirements (15 credits)

15 semester hours are required. All International Business students are also required to complete the Star Certification program with the Coggin Career Management Center prior to starting the search for their mandatory internship.

GEB4941 Foundations of International Business (3 Credits)

Concentration Requirement (12 credits)

Students will take a combination of 4 classes in any of the following areas.  May be completed abroad.

GLOBAL AWARENESS (up to 12 credits)

This concentration allows students to explore topics of importance across the globe. Courses chosen must present content from a largely international perspective.  May be completed abroad.

SELECT up to 4 classes from the following

INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE (up to 12 credits)

These classes allow students to gain a depth of knowledge in a particular region. May be completed abroad.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY (up to 12 credits)

These classes, when taught in a language other than English, allow students to hone their skills in a particular language and deepen cultural understanding in a linguistic context. Courses in any discipline taught in a language other than English will qualify as "language courses" for this concentration. May be completed abroad.

Language Requisites (6 credits)

Select 2 foreign language courses at the intermediate level or above if the language is offered as a minor at UNF. Both courses must be in the same language. A grade of "C" of better is required for all courses in this area.

SELECT Intermediate I Foreign Language

Take 3 credit hours: SPN2200/FRE2240/CHI2200

SELECT Intermediate II Foreign Language

Take additional 3 credit hours of same language: SPN2201/FRE2241/CHI2201

Students may complete an approved language immersion program abroad to fulfill this requirement, or complete an approved language competency assessment in case the language is not offered as a minor at UNF. Approval is given by the director of IB.

Required Business (6 credits)

6 semester hours are required. A grade of "C" or better is required for all courses in this area.

International Educational Experience

All International Business Majors are required to participate in an approved international educational experience. Examples of approved experiences include the following:

• • Successful completion of an internship abroad
  • Successful participation in a semester-long or summer exchange program (minimum of 4 weeks)

Practicum

All International Business majors are required to complete a practicum experience to prepare for their careers. Beginning in Fall 2023, this experience can be fulfilled in one of several ways, such as participation in an approved international internship, approved work or volunteer experience, approved consulting experience, or an approved career training program. Students not pursuing an internship for credit will register for the below 0-credit pass/fail course to complete this requirement. Approval is given by the director of IB. May be completed abroad.
