Spring Closing Information

Spring 2024 is rapidly coming to a close, which means MOVE-OUT is also just around the corner. Please take a moment to review the important move-out information to assist you as you prepare to vacate your currently assigned space.

All residents must be moved out of their Spring 2024 assignment by Friday, May 3rd at 3 p.m.*

  • Graduating students by Saturday, May 4th at 12 noon
Regularly check your UNF email for information sent during the summer if you're returning for the Fall 2024 semester.

*excluding residents assigned to The Flats at UNF

Attend Your Closing Meeting and Adhere to Quiet Hours

  • You must attend your closing meeting. If you cannot attend, it is your responsibility to inform your student staff member in advance and follow-up to get information.
  • 24/7 Quiet Hours: Friday, April 26th at 5 p.m. – Saturday, May 4th at 12 noon. Loud voices, music and all other potentially disruptive activities are prohibited during this time. Those that violate this may face disciplinary action.

Closing Room Checks

Housing and Residence Life staff may enter rooms during Spring Closing to: ​

  • Ensure residents have vacated
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance
  • Room Inspection Checks

Violations and damages found will be documented and residents of room may go through a Conduct process and/or be charged.

Check-Out* Information:

*Failure to check out appropriately may result in a charge placed on your student account.

  • Remove all belongings from space
  • Clean all of space thoroughly
  • Retrieve mail/packages
  • Visit Welcome Desk to complete checkout

Osprey Fountains ​Welcome Desk Hours: 24/7

Letters and Packages

  • Pick up mail and packages prior to May 3rd (or by your check out)
  • If you have essential deliveries, have them sent to your Summer Break address.
  • It is your responsibility to inform USPS, vendors, and loved ones of your address change. 
  • Mail will not be automatically forwarded. Any mail delivered after you check out will be returned to sender. 
  • Coordinate change-of-address in advance. This process takes time to update with some vendors.

What Does Cleaning Mean?

  • Floors: The vinyl composite tile in the bedroom(s), entry hall, and vanity area are to be thoroughly swept and mopped.
  • Bathroom Area: The bathtub/showers and tile walls must be clean, with all mold, mildew, and hard water or soap scum stains removed. The tiles are to be shiny with no residue remaining.The outer surface of the toilet bowl is to be cleaned and the inside of the bowl free from stains. The bathroom floor and baseboards are to be mopped and cleaned. The sink and counter of the vanity area are to be cleaned, with all hair, soap scum and stains removed. The mirror is to be cleaned with glass cleaner and is not to be cloudy. The interior and exterior of the medicine cabinets are to be cleaned.
  • Housing Furnishings: The interior and exterior of desk, dresser, chairs and bed frame are to be cleaned an wiped dry so that dirt and dust are removed.
  • Wall and Windows: Walls are to be cleaned as to remove any tape, dirt, or masks. Spider webs are to be removed from ceiling areas. Room blinds, windows, and windowsills are to be cleaned.
  • Countertops, Cabinets, and Doors: Both sides of the door must be cleaned of all tape residue marks. All countertops and cabinet areas must be wiped thoroughly.
  • Trash and Garbage Removal: All trash, personal belongings, and garbage must be removed from the room and any other spaces. Garbage and recyclables must be disposed of at the designated trash locations.
  • Remove and take all belongings​
  • Removal: all trash, garbage, and recycling to outdoor location​

Community Closing Checklist

Complete these tasks before leaving for Summer. You will not be able to get back into the room once your community closes.

  • Clean entire space
  • Clean and defrost micro-fridge; take mirco-fridge with you
  • Lock door and close windows, keep blinds down and open
  • Set thermostat to fan on high and 70 degrees
  • Take fish with you
  • Turn off lights
  • Take out trash, recycling and composting to outside receptacles
  • Take all items with you (including bikes, letters, packages)

Campus Operations Over Summer Break

Limited campus resources will be open at UNF during Summer Break. Please refer to each campus office for specific hours of operation and plan accordingly.

Intersession Housing

For Spring 2024 residents that are registered for Summer A/C, visit our Housing Intersession Request form and agreement for more information.

Give and Go (April 27 - May 4)

Donation Locations:  The following areas will be used to accommodate donation items for the Spring 2024 Move Out Donations: 

  • Osprey Hall & Landing: Y 2nd Floor Lounge (access will be added to Landing & Hall resident keys)
  • Osprey Cove: U 2nd Floor Lounge (access will be added to Cove T & V resident keys)
  • Osprey Village: UHaul (or Goodwill unit) parked near D Bldg. Wednesday, May 1st to Monday, May 6th.*
  • Osprey Crossings: Q 1st Floor Lounge
  • Osprey Fountains: MPR 2
  • Osprey Clubhouse front desk for Food Donations

All items need to be in good/usable condition. Items that can be donated include: 

  • Clothes (all clothes in bags
  • Shoes
  • Microwaves
  • Furniture​ (in good shape)
  • Lamps

All items should be in usable condition.

*Laptops, cell phones, tablets, computers or other items containing a hard drive or storage device will be wiped and recycled by the campus ecycler*

Food Donations: Each donation site will have a donation box for UNOPENED non-perishable food type donations and hygiene products (please no glass containers).  

Items that can be donated:

  •  Unopened non-perishable items (Ramen Noodles, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Pasta, Cereal)
  •  Unopened hygiene products (Shampoo, Shower Gel, Shave Gel, Soap)

*No Glass containers

The Clubhouse Welcome Desk will accept food donations.

Donations will be taken to: Goodwill, Salvation Army, Boys Ranch, local mental health services and internal groups like Honors and UNF Dean of Students office that assist need based organizations, Lend-A-Wing (food donation) and local food banks.
