Scholarship Frequently Asked Questions

  • When are funds awarded?

    Your total award will be disbursed in the coming academic year: half in the fall semester, half in the spring, unless otherwise stated.

  • Where can I apply?

    Refer to the Home page for specific application deadlines.

  • Do I fill out more than one application?

    Prior to submitting, be sure to complete the opt-in process in MyWings under “Data Consent with UNF Foundation Scholarships”. Complete the scholarship application process. For apply-to scholarships, which are denoted on the Coggin website, search the scholarship name and complete the required information to be eligible.

  • Can I win more than one award?
    Yes!
  • Are the awards renewable?

    Yes, many are. If you are selected, you will receive notice of how many semesters the award can potentially be awarded, should you continue to meet the minimum requirements.

  • I am a Sophomore, can I apply?

    In order to apply you must have declared a major in the Coggin College of Business and have earned at least 36 hours of undergraduate course work.

  • I am seeking a graduate fellowship, how do I apply?

    Prior to submitting, be sure to complete the opt-in process in MyWings under “Data Consent with UNF Foundation Scholarships”. Complete the scholarship application process. For apply-to scholarships, which are denoted on the Coggin website, search the scholarship name and complete the required information to be eligible.

  • Who selects the winners?

    All applications are reviewed and scholars selected by Coggin College of Business faculty committees.

  • When will I find out if I've received the award?

    Most notifications are sent to students during the summer. You will receive an email with your offer letter in your student email account (be sure to check your email). On rare occasions students may be notified of an award early fall due to extenuating circumstances.

  • Who do I contact if I have questions?

    You can email coggin.scholarships@unf.edu or stop by the Dean’s Office in building 42, suite 2010. The office takes walk-ins and appointments.

  • What are the essay requirements?

    In no more than 500 words, please describe your time at UNF, including academic experience, work experience, community involvement, and extracurricular activities. Please also include your plans after college.

  • What should be in my personal statement?

    In your scholarship personal statement, it should describe your values and how you will be impacted by the funding if selected.

  • Do I have to apply every year?

    You must complete the data consent form every year. To receive the maximum amount of opportunities, it is best to apply every year.

  • What if I want to study abroad?

    Speak to your study abroad advisor about specific programs. 

    Apply through AcademicWorks at unf.academicworks.com. Prior to completing the application, be sure to opt-in through your MyWings- online forms- Data Consent with UNF Foundation Scholarships. 

    For scholarships with additional requirements, you will need to search for specific scholarship name in AcademicWorks and complete the required information to be eligible. 

  • Can I apply as a senior?

    Yes, you can still apply if you are:

    • Planning to go to graduate school at the University of North Florida
    • Not graduating until the Fall

    Please indicate in your scholarship essay, if either of these above scenarios apply to you. The application window for recipients is for the following school year.
