Management or Finance in Rome and Florence

This faculty-led program offers Coggin students an opportunity to explore the rich history, art, and business environment of Italy, with a focus on Rome and Florence. Led by dedicated faculty members - and experienced travelers - Dr. Flynn and Dr. Timmerman, the program blends academic learning with immersive experiences like guided tours of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican City, il Duomo, and Uffizi Gallery, and visits to the Italian Ministry of Finance and Bank of Italy. This carefully curated program is an excellent opportunity for students to experience the culture and dynamism of these historic Italian cities while earning credits towards their degrees and developing a global perspective.

Meeting Dates

Preparatory class meetings take place throughout the Spring 2026 semester.  Meeting days/times will be finalized by November and visible when you register for the UNF course through myWings. 

Courses & Prerequisites

Students will choose one of the following classes for the spring semester:

  • MAN4956 (prereq = GEB1011 or MAN3025)
  • FIN4956* (prereq = FIN3403)

*This course can be used to fulfill FIN3303 Financial Institutions.

Participants

Up to 20 UNF undergraduate students who meet the above prerequisite(s).

Cost

Students pay for three credit hours of UNF Spring 2026 tuition and fees for this study abroad course plus a program fee to cover most travel expenses.  For details on the program fee, contact the faculty leader(s) below.

Logistics

Students will be in shared accommodations, twin or triple rooms.  Accommodations, transportation, activities, entrance fees, and international health insurance are included in the program fee.  Flights may be included, or students will book their own flights with the guidance of the faculty leaders.

Florence: Florence is renowned as the birthplace of the Renaissance, a city overflowing with magnificent art, iconic architecture like the Duomo, and a rich cultural heritage that continues to captivate visitors with its blend of history and charm.
Italy: Located in southern Europe, bordered by France to the northwest, Switzerland and Austria to the north, and Slovenia to the northeast. Italy extends into the Mediterranean Sea to the south and is shaped like a boot. Milan is situated in the northern part of the country, in the Po Valley, which is a central economic region of Italy.
