Rising Sophomore Student Housing Information for 2024/2025

This group is comprised of current UNF students who are living on campus (Fall 2023 & Spring 2024) who were admitted as First-Time in College Students for Summer B 2023, Fall 2023 or Spring 2024.

UPDATE: As of March 4, 2024, Housing and Residence Life is only accepting additional housing contracts for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 from first-year students admitted for the first time for Summer B 2024 or Fall 2024. All other students should explore the following resources:

Standby List Information - https://www.unf.edu/housing/contract-information/standby.html

The 2024/2025 UNF Housing Contract for the upcoming academic year will be released in myHousing for Rising Sophomore Students on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 12 noon EST.

Any RISING SOPHOMORE STUDENT who has a desire to live on-campus for the 2024/2025 academic year should submit their housing contract as soon as possible, but no later than FEBRUARY 16, 2024.

Please note, the timeline for RISING SOPHOMORES to submit a 2024/2025 Housing Contract and take advantage of the initial priority is very tight - SUBMIT NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 16, 2024

Please note, submission of a UNF Housing Contract does not guarantee a bed assignment. The earlier a student fully completes all steps of the housing contract submission process in myHousing, which includes the submission of a one-time $100.00 processing fee, the higher priority the student has to participate in on-line room selection process. A student failing to participate in scheduled on-line room selection processes greatly lowers any priority to receive a bed space.

The process to ultimately receive a bed assignment is a multiple step process and requires students to take specific required actions.

STEP 1 (Required):

Fully submit the 2024/2025 Housing Contract in myHousing as early as possible

Students submitting their first housing contract will be required to submit a one-time non-refundable $100.00 processing fee to fully submit their housing contract

Please note, submission of a UNF Housing Contract does not guarantee a bed assignment. The earlier a student fully completes all steps of the housing contract submission process in myHousing, the higher priority the student has to participate in on-line room selection process.

STEP 2 (Optional):

Following submission of the 2024/2025 Housing Contract in myHousing, complete the Living-Learning Community application

Please note: Once a student fully completes the Housing Contract, including payment of the $100.00 processing fee (if applicable), the student can refresh their browser and submit an Living-Learning Community application

For information on Communities please visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/llc/index.html

STEP 3 (Required):

Fully participate in the scheduled on-line room selection process to select bed space.

Please note: A student failing to participate in a scheduled on-line room selection processes lowers the student’s overall priority to be assigned to a bedspace

On-line Room Selection Process:                              April 22 -26, 2024

STEP 4 (Required):

Schedule a move-in appointment via myHousing.

Information on the move-in process and how to schedule a move-in appointment will be released mid-July 2024.

Living-Learning Community (LLC) participants move-in will occur via appointment on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. There will not be an opportunity for assigned LLC participants to move-in earlier than August 14, 2024. Visit the following link for a listing of preferred hotels in the area if there is a desire or need to be in the UNF area prior to August 14th: https://campustravel.com/university/university-of-north-florida/

Move-in for Rising Sophomore Students with a room assignment (Non-LLC) will occur via appointment on Saturday, August 17, 2024. What housing areas and room types will be available for Rising Sophomore Students when the on-line room selection process begins?

When the on-line room selection process begins, you can expect to see the following room types. As the on-line room selection process continues hour-by-hour students can anticipate the number of available rooms/beds in each facility will decrease as students participate in the process.

Osprey Fountains

Approximately 700 bed spaces. Approximately half of the rooms will be for females and half for males. Approximately 336 of these bed spaces will be in 4-person suites. Approximately 336 bed spaces will be in 6-person suites. In the traditional 6-person suite, there will be the 4 private bedroom spaces and a shared double bedroom for a total occupancy of 6. Some Osprey Fountains bed spaces will initially be limited to participants in upper-class Living-Learning Communities. For information on space types please visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/halls/osprey-fountains/index.html

Osprey Village

Approximately 420 bed spaces. Approximately half of the beds will be for females and half for males.  Approximately 200 of these bed spaces are in 1-bedroom apartments (2 students per bedroom). The other approximately 220 bed spaces are in 2-bedroom apartments (2 students per bedroom). For information on space types please visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/halls/osprey-village/index.html

The Flats at UNF

Approximately 474 bed spaces. Approximately half of the apartments and beds will be for females and half for males. Approximately 192 of these bed spaces are in 2-bedroom apartments. Approximately 282 bed spaces are in 3-bedroom apartments. For information on space types please visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/halls/the-flats-at-unf/index.html

  • Please note, students who select a bedspace at The Flats at UNF will be in a  longer-term Housing Contract that includes Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Summer 2025.
  • The Flats at UNF contract is approx. a 11.5-month contract, paid in 12 rent installments.

Consider The Flats at UNF if…

  • You need year-round housing (fall, spring and summer)
  • You appreciate the ability to make rent installment
  • You want traditional apartment living with an individual contract

The Flats at UNF is not for you if…

  • You do not anticipate the need for year-round housing (fall, spring and summer)
  • You will be engaging in an internship, student teaching/practicum or study-abroad experience that will take you away from Jacksonville
  • You will be graduating at the end of the fall or spring semester and plan to leave Jacksonville

Please note the following:

Once a student submits a UNF Housing Contract, it is imperative that student actively monitor their UNF e-mail account for specific information and timelines associated with the on-line room selection process, move-in appointment scheduling and other pertinent information.

To accommodate medical and disability needs as determined by the UNF Student Accessibility Center, Housing and Residence Life may make adjustments to occupancy levels in some room types.

Preparing for Room Selection

Between now and April 2024, Rising Sophomores with a completed housing contract will need to ensure they have read and completed the following, as applicable:

  1. Ensure ALL room and roommate preferences within myHousing are up to date.
  2. Search AND mutually accept your desired roommate(s) in myHousing. Please note the following:
    1. Both you AND your desired roommate(s) must be in the same Roommate Group to be considered as a mutual request.
    2. It is important to be pro-active in accepting or declining roommates within myHousing to prevent any issues during the Room Selection process.
    3. Some rooms/apartments/suites and/or individual bed spaces may not be available for assignment during the room selection process due to Living-Learning Communities, Theme Housing, ADA needs, etc. Housing and Residence Life will communicate directly with students impacted by their space being unavailable prior to the on-line room selection process.
