Spring 2024 Housing Contract Information

The demand for on-campus bed space is extremely high. As of December 21, 2023, Housing and Residence Life has paused accepting additional UNF Housing Contracts from students Spring 2024 until after UNF Winter Break (12/22/23 – 1/3/24).

The Spring 2024 UNF Housing Contract released in myHousing on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 12 noon (Eastern time):
Please review all of the information carefully as demand for on-campus bed space continues to be extremely high. Here is information to consider prior to submitting a Spring 2024 Housing Contract:
- Any UNF student who will be registered for UNF classes for Spring 2024 and has a desire to live on-campus for Spring 2024 should fully complete the Spring 2024 Housing Contract as soon as possible.
- The earlier a student fully completes the Housing Contract process in myHousing, which includes the submission of a one-time non-refundable $100.00 processing fee, the higher priority the student has to be placed within a bed space over students who contract at a later date.
Please note, Housing and Residence Life has a desire to house as many students as possible but based on the anticipated high demand for bed spaces for January 2024, Housing and Residence Life will be prioritizing the placement of contracted first-year students who have registered and/or attended New Student Orientation before placing any non-first-year students. The submission of the UNF Housing Contract does not guarantee a bed assignment or an assignment to a specific type of accommodation (community, room type, etc.) or assignment to any preference indicated by student are requests only and not guaranteed. - Housing and Residence Life anticipates accepting Spring 2024 Housing Contracts until no later than November 17, 2023. Please note, if housing contract submissions are outpacing the anticipated supply of available beds, Housing and Residence Life may stop taking housing contacts earlier than November 17, 2023 which is why students are encouraged to fully complete the Spring 2024 Housing Contract as soon as possible.
- All current Fall 2023 residents have a Housing Contract in place that includes Spring 2024. It is anticipated that some current Fall 2023 residents may choose to cancel and not return for Spring 2024. As housing contract cancellation submissions depend on individual resident decisions, Housing and Residence Life cannot predict how many housing contract cancellations will be submitted.
- Once a student submits a UNF Housing Contract, it is imperative that the student monitor their UNF e-mail account.
The process to ultimately receive a bed assignment is a multiple step process and requires students to take specific required actions.
STEP 1 (Required Action by Student):
Fully submit the Spring 2024 Housing Contract in myHousing, which includes the submission of a one-time non-refundable $100.00 processing fee, as soon as possible.
STEP 2 (Handled by Housing and Residence Life):
There will not be an on-line room selection event for Spring 2024 bed space as Housing and Residence Life will handle the assignment process behind the scenes.
All students that we are able to assign space will be assigned to partially occupied rooms/suite/apartments as the vast majority of Fall 2023 residents will return for Spring 2024. While Housing and Residence Life will take into account each student’s preferences, assignment to a specific type of accommodation (community, room type, etc.) or assignment to any preference indicated by student are requests only and not guaranteed.
Housing and Residence Life staff will begin making assignments behind the scenes as early as November 15th and will provide an initial assignment update via e-mail to each contracted student on November 27th.
STEP 3 (Required Action by Assigned Students):
If assigned a bed space, housing move-in will occur on Friday, January 5, 2024. Each assigned resident will be provided an initial move-in appointment between 9 a.m. and 12 noon on January 5th, which will outline the earliest the student will be able to visit Osprey Clubhouse (Building 17) to receive key access. Final assignment and move-in details, including initial move-in appointment times, will be sent to each assigned student via e-mail the afternoon of December 18th. If a student wishes to arrive later than January 5th the process details to move-in late will be provided in the December 18th e-mail communication.
Housing and Residence Life cannot accommodate move-in earlier than January 5, 2024. The Department of Housing and Residence Life will be open and operating during normal business hours each Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. while the University is open.
The University, including the Department of Housing and Residence Life, will be closed for the following:
Thanksgiving
Closed as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 and will not re-open until 8 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023.
UNF Winter Break
Closed as of 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023 and will not re-open until 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
