2024/2025 Housing Information for students not in the First-year or Rising Sophomore Student Groups

Please review all of the information carefully as the demand for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 on-campus bed space is extremely high.

UPDATE: As of March 4, 2024, Housing and Residence Life is only accepting additional housing contracts for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 from first-year students admitted for the first time for Summer B 2024 or Fall 2024. All other students should explore the following resources:

UNF Dean of Students Office Off-campus Housing Resources - https://www.unf.edu/deanofstudents/care-services/off-campus-housing.html

Standby List Information - https://www.unf.edu/housing/contract-information/standby.html

In anticipation of the release of the 2024/2025 Housing Contract, admitted UNF students are divided into 3 separate groups as it relates to on-campus housing and the availability of the 2024/2025 Housing Contract in myHousing:

FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

This group is comprised of First-Time In College Students admitted for Summer B 2024, Fall 2024 or Spring 2025

RISING SOPHOMORE STUDENTS

This group is comprised of current UNF students who are currently living on campus (Fall 2023 & Spring 2024) who were admitted as First-Time In College Students for Summer B 2023, Fall 2023 or Spring 2024

ALL OTHER STUDENTS

This group is comprised of all other students not in First-year or Rising Sophomore Student Groups

For Fall 2024/Spring 2025, there will be approximately 3,700 rentable bed spaces in the 7 residential communities. Of the 3,700 beds, approximately 50% of the beds will be for newly admitted first-year students and 50% will be for rising sophomore students and above.

As seen around the nation, demand for on-campus housing is extremely high. The University desires to house all students who wish to live on campus but with such high demand, the University must focus on those students who need on-campus housing while they are first establishing connections and getting acclimated to campus and the community. With this in mind Housing and Residence Life began accepting housing contracts from admitted first-year students and rising sophomores for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 on January 16, 2024.

At 12 noon EST on March 4, 2024 Housing and Residence Life will expand access beyond these initial two groups and begin accepting housing contracts from other students through the myHousing portal.  Any student who will be registered for Fall 2024 classes at UNF who has a desire to live on-campus for the 24/25 academic year, should review the following information carefully in preparation for March 4th:

3/4/24 1:30PM UPDATE: After accepting approximately 400 housing contracts on March 4, 2024, Housing and Residence Life, as previously communicated, stopped accepting additional housing contracts from rising sophomore students and above. The myHousing portal operated as expected during the time period when housing contracts were being accepted. Those students who successfully submitted a housing contract on March 4th will be able to access myHousing to submit a Living-Learning Community application after 9am on March 5th if they are interested in an LLC for 24/25.

  • The process to ultimately receive a bed assignment is a multiple step process and requires students to take specific required actions.

  • Submission of a UNF Housing Contract does not guarantee a bed assignment or participation in the online room selection process or assignment to a specific type of accommodation (community, room, suite or apartment) or guarantee a specific roommate(s) or any preference(s) indicated by a student.

  • The earlier a student fully completes all steps of the housing contract submission process in myHousing, which may include the submission of a one-time $100.00 processing fee, the higher priority the student has to participate in the online room selection process, which will occur for rising sophomores and above in April 2024.

  • As demand is extremely high, it is possible there will be students who submit a housing contract on March 4th who will not be eligible to participate in the online room selection process in April 2024 based on submission date/time.

  • It is unknown how many students will choose to submit or attempt to submit a housing contract on March 4th at 12 noon EST but Housing and Residence Life anticipates heavy student activity in the myHousing portal as soon the process goes live.

  • 2/23/24 UPDATE: Housing and Residence Life anticipates accepting approximately 400 housing contracts when the system goes live on March 4th at 12 noon EST.

  • Housing and Residence Life anticipates that at some point following going live on March 4th at 12 noon the ability to submit a housing contract will end due to high demand.

  • On March 13, 2024 Housing and Residence Life will send direct e-mail updates to all students who fully submitted a UNF Housing Contract on March 4th of their ability or inability to participate in the online room selection process in April 2024.

  • A student’s ability to participate in the online room selection process will be solely determined by the date and time of their housing contract submission. The earlier a student fully completes all steps of the housing contract submission process in myHousing the higher priority the student has to participate in the online room selection process.

Please note the following:

  • Students registered with the Student Accessibility Center (SAC) follow the same timeline and process as listed above to submit a housing contract on March 4th. A student’s identified housing-related accommodation for the current or for any previous semester (room-type, location, etc.) is not reviewed until a housing contract has been submitted and the student has received a direct e-mail verification from Housing and Residence (March 13th) as to whether or not they are eligible for the online room selection process. If deemed eligible for online room selection based on the date and time of their housing contract submission, Housing and Residence Life will work directly with the student prior to the online room selection process to work towards an appropriate bed assignment.

  • Once a student fully submits a housing contract, the student can refresh their browser and submit a Living-Learning Community (LLC) application. For LLC information visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/llc/index.html

  • When bed space demand is higher than bed space availability, Housing and Residence Life may utilize a standby list to assign students to bed spaces that may open up through contract cancellations after room selection is complete and continuing into the Fall 2024 semester. The standby list process details will be released in April 2024.

  • 2/23/24 UPDATE: Based on anticipated demand Housing and Residence Life will release standby list process details on March 13, 2024. The process to request to be added to the standby list will begin at 12 noon EST on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

For students who are unable to submit a housing contract March 4th and/or participate in the online room selection process in April 2024, Housing and Residence Life and the Dean of Students Office have partnered with College Pads to provide the UNF community with a resource to assist with the search for off-campus housing. The platform provides a vibrant map of the area with a view of local off-campus properties, filter features to help a student narrow the search by pricing, bedrooms, amenities, etc. For more information visit https://www.unf.edu/deanofstudents/care-services/off-campus-housing.html

  • Students currently residing in Osprey Fountains, Osprey Village and The Flats at UNF for Spring 2024 are not guaranteed the ability to reassign themselves to their current bed space for 2024/2025, this includes students currently participating in Living-Learning Communities within any community.

Of the students who have been identified as eligible for the online room selection process via the March 13, 2024 e-mail notifications, Housing and Residence Life will identify those who are currently assigned to Osprey Fountains, Osprey Village and The Flats at UNF in Spring 2024 bed spaces and Housing and Residence Life will preassign them to their current bed space. However, not all bed spaces will be eligible to be preassigned as there will be spaces identified for use by the department to include, but not limited to, medical/disability accommodations, Living-Learning Communities and department student staffing needs. Housing and Residence Life reserves the right to make all determinations as to what space will be eligible to be preassigned or not. If a student is preassigned to one of these communities, the student will have the opportunity to keep or alter their preassigned space during the online room selection process. Students that have been preassigned will be notified of their assignment status via e-mail prior to the online room selection process beginning.

  • The UNF Housing Contract for the 24/25 academic year establishes a legal and binding agreement as soon as it is submitted. With this in mind Housing and Residence Life encourages students to carefully review the full terms and conditions, including the following cancellation timeline and associated fees:
Cancellation March 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024
$500.00 Cancellation Fee + Non-refundable $100.00 Processing Fee = total amount due to cancel contract

Cancellation  July 1, 2024 – August 13, 2024
$1,000.00 Cancellation Fee + Non-refundable $100.00 Processing Fee = total amount due to cancel contract

Cancellation after August 13, 2024
Student assessed one half of the remaining amount owed on the full agreement = total amount due to cancel contract

The complete terms and conditions for the 24/25 academic year is viewable by visiting https://www.unf.edu/housing/contract.html

  • Housing and Residence Life is not responsible for computer access or wired/wireless internet connectivity. A student having a challenge(s) with their computer equipment or internet connectivity will not pause or stop the process of accepting housing contracts from other students nor can Housing and Residence Life diagnose or fix a challenge(s) associated with a student’s computer equipment or internet connectivity.
  • Housing and Residence Life staff will be closely monitoring the myHousing system on March 4th and ensuring it is operating as expected for contract submissions.
  • Once a student submits a UNF Housing Contract, it is imperative that the student actively monitors their UNF e-mail account for specific information associated with their submission or other pertinent information.
