Nursing Leadership

Overview

The purpose of this Master’s in Nursing Leadership is to prepare nurses at the graduate level to successfully manage and lead healthcare services across a variety of settings. Graduates will be equipped with the skills to incorporate evidence based knowledge into practice to improve healthcare outcomes in response to emerging trends and issues in practice and health care. The curriculum builds on leadership, evaluation, and organizational management methods to improve healthcare delivery in today’s complex care settings. Graduates are prepared with the requisite knowledge to take the ANCC Nurse Executive certification exam upon graduation (must meet ANCC eligibility criteria).

The BSN‐MSN tracks require a BSN for admission and will admit up to 20 students combined each fall.

The following items must be submitted no later then the deadline posted above. Incomplete applications with outstanding requirements, or those post-marked after the posted deadline, are subject to cancellation. Once an application has been canceled, the decision can not be reversed. Applicants may apply for the next application cycle.

  • University Requirements
    • A baccalaureate degree from an accepted institutional accreditor, or its equivalent from a foreign institution, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all work attempted in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study.
    • Transcripts, and foreign evaluations if applicable, from all post-secondary institutions attended. Admitted students will be prompted to provide official copies. 
  • Program Requirements
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accepted institutional accreditor with a nursing curriculum based on AACN's Essentials of Baccalaureate Education
      • Minimum undergraduate nursing major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
    • Resume or curriculum vitae
      • Nursing roles/experiences evidencing 1 years experience as a RN in a clinical setting
      • Only include professional RN work experience with a brief explanation of each position's responsibilities.
      • Indicate if the position was full-time or part-time, and an estimate of the hours worked overall in that position
      • Not to exceed 2 pages
    • Professional licensure
      • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse or advanced practice registered nurse in the candidate's state of practice
      • Copy of actual RN license required
       
    The resume and professional licensure should be updated with each new application unless prior submitted documents have been approved for use by the nursing admissions team.
