Community and Support

It is the goal of the Institute of Environmental Research and Education (IERE) to support the students and faculty at UNF in the pursuit of environmental research and education. In order to accomplish this goal, the IERE relies on the generosity of donors. The IERE would like to thank each and every one of our donors for their generosity and support.

We rely on the generosity of alumni and friends to help accomplish our mission. Gifts made to the IERE will support programs enhance a student’s UNF experience through scholarships, student programming, field experiences, and more. Endowments

An endowed gift to the IERE demonstrates your commitment to students and faculty at the University by creating a permanent fund that supports environmental research and education.

  • River Branch Endowment: Endowed by the River Branch Foundation, this endowment supports research development grants for faculty.
  • Raymond D. Bowman Endowment: Endowed by alumni Charles "Chuck" Ged, this endowment supports the development of academic programs and community collaborations.
  • J. David Lambert Memorial Endowed Environmental Scholarship J. David Lambert, Ph.D. is a former director, associate professor, and integral supporter of IERE. Please consider supporting the J. Large Annual and Multi-Year Gifts

  • Cummer Foundation: The Cummer Foundation has supported environmental initiatives through annual gifts to support students and faculty for several years.  Most recently, the Cummer Foundation has provided integral support for student scholarships and experience for students enrolled in the Environmental Leadership Program.
  • Felburn Foundation: The Felburn Foundation has supported environmental education and development through annual gifts for several years.  Most recently, the Felburn Foundation has provided integral support for student scholarships and experience for students enrolled in the Environmental Leadership Program.
  • Vulcan Materials Company Foundation: Vulcan Materials Company Foundation has supported research development grants for faculty through annual gifts for several years. This support has allowed the IERE to offer environmentally related research grants to faculty that are intended to "seed" research while inspiring effective collaboration between faculty members and students in diverse disciplines.
  • Community Council: The Community Council members’ annual donations directly support environmental education and research programs. This supports IERE students and faculty to advance environmental science and studies in NE Florida.
