About Kappa Alpha Omicron (KAO)

The Kappa Alpha Omicron (KAO) at the University of North Florida is an honors society associated with the Interdisciplinary Environmental Association and supported by the Institute of Environmental Research and Education (IERE). The UNF chapter was founded in 2020 with an founding membership of 20 members.

The UNF-KAO Honors Society is the perfect student organization for any student interested in environmental sciences and studies. The chapter provides students the opportunity to network with students, faculty and professionals, as well as provide an international network in the growing field of interdisciplinary environmental sciences. Membership Requirements

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Maintain membership dues:
    • First year $50 ($40 KAO dues, $10 UNF dues)
    • After the first year, dues are $10 annually and are used 100% by the UNF-KAO Honor Society
  • Each semester members must:
    • Attend at least one general chapter meeting
    • Attend at least one chapter social event
    • Attend at least one professional development or community service event
