  • How long does it take to complete a Graduate Microcertificate?

Most students complete a graduate microcertificate within one to two semesters. The structure is designed to maintain momentum while allowing flexibility for working professionals.

  • How do I earn a Graduate Microcertificate?

To earn a graduate microcertificate, you must:

    • Successfully complete two approved graduate-level courses associated with the microcertificate
    • Earn a grade of B (3.0) or higher in each course

Once both courses are completed, the microcertificate is awarded automatically—no separate application is required.

Graduate microcertificates are awarded as digital badges. Once you complete the required coursework, your badge will be issued by UNF automatically and can be shared on professional platforms such as LinkedIn, résumés, and digital portfolios.

  • Can microcertificate coursework count toward a graduate degree or certificate?

Yes. Graduate microcertificates are stackable, meaning completed coursework may be applied toward a related graduate certificate or master's degree, subject to program requirements. Students pursuing a graduate certificate must apply for admission to the certificate program and submit a separate application to graduate from it. Please note that only up to 12 credit hours may be transferred toward a graduate program.

Students may also earn microcertificates as part of an existing graduate certificate or degree program, allowing them to gain additional credentials along the way.

  • Are Graduate Microcertificate students eligible for financial aid?

However, students who earn microcertificates as part of a graduate degree program may be eligible for applicable financial aid and tuition benefits, depending on enrollment status.

  • Can I use employer tuition reimbursement to pay for a microcertificate?

In many cases, yes. Some students use employer tuition reimbursement or professional development funds to help offset the cost of graduate microcertificate coursework. Eligibility and reimbursement policies vary by employer, so we recommend checking directly with your organization.

  • Can I repeat a course to earn a microcertificate?

No. Courses may not be repeated if you have already received academic credit for the same course at the undergraduate or graduate level. Course equivalency is determined by subject and course number.

  • Who teaches Graduate Microcertificate courses?

Graduate microcertificate courses are taught by UNF graduate faculty and expert practitioners who bring both academic expertise and real-world experience into the classroom. Coursework is designed to be immediately applicable and relevant to today’s workforce needs.
