Osprey First Summer Pathway Program

What is Osprey First?

Have you been accepted to UNF for the Osprey First program? That's exciting news! Osprey First is an on-campus and in-person summer pathway program that takes place during our 2025 Summer B term (June 23 – August 1, 2025), and sets you up for success as you transition from high school to UNF. Upon successful completion of Osprey First, you will be able to enroll in fall classes.

You'll get a specialized UNF experience that is only offered to Osprey First students.

  • Forge Bonds
    No ordinary class schedules here! Osprey First introduces you to a unique, cohort-based learning approach that's not only academically enriching, but also ensures you'll build meaningful connections with your fellow students. You'll form friendships that last throughout your time at UNF, all while taking classes and experiencing campus together.

  • Insider Access to Your Own Mentor
    Wondering what it's like to be a UNF Osprey? No worries. You'll be paired with a peer mentor — a UNF student who knows all the hidden gems, top tips and secrets of navigating campus life. This makes your transition seamless. 

  • On-Campus Oasis
    Your ideal summer home right on campus? With Osprey First, you can secure on-campus housing for the Summer B term, if you choose to live on campus (housing contract would be required), offering you the convenience of living at the center of it all. Immerse yourself in the vibrant UNF community and create great memories with your fellow Ospreys.

  • Beyond the Classroom
    Osprey First isn't just about textbooks and lectures; it's an opportunity to enrich your learning experience with exciting activities that take you beyond the classroom.   • What GPA must I have at the conclusion of the program?

    Please review the following important GPA requirements. Your GPA will affect your enrollment status and fall term registration.

    • 3.0 GPA or higher* :
      • $500 Fall 2025 scholarship (Scholarship eligibility also requires participation in Osprey First events throughout the Summer).
      • Eligible to enroll full-time in Fall 2025
    • 2.5 - 2.99 GPA*:
      • Eligible to enroll full-time in Fall 2025
    • Under 2.5 GPA*:
      • Eligible to enroll part-time (11 or fewer credit hours) in Fall 2025**

     *Minimum GPA requirements are based on graded coursework with no grades below a "C"
    **Part time status may affect scholarship and/or financial aid eligibility.

  • What other requirements must be met to successfully complete the program?

    To successfully complete the program, you must:

    • Complete both Osprey First courses (six credit hours) with a C-grade or better (and meet the GPA requirements outlined in the previous FAQ)
    • Participate in required enrichment activities
    • You cannot receive a grade or status of NG, W, U, S or I

    Don't forget that successful completion with a 3.0 GPA or higher also means you'll earn a $500 scholarship for the fall term!
  • What are my next steps?

    Secure your spot in the Osprey First program!

    1. Submit the admission deposit, or waiver if applicable, via your applicant portal.  
    2. Register for New Student Orientation.
  • How do students partake in Osprey First?

    Students who apply for our summer or fall term, and whose GPA and test scores meet the criteria for this alternate admission path, will be automatically admitted into the Osprey First program.

    Whether you are admitted to Osprey First or the traditional term is dependent on the criteria and what is determined by the Office of Admissions to be the best fit for you.

  • Can I decline the Osprey First Summer Pathway acceptance and still be admitted to UNF?

    If you applied for summer or fall term and are accepted n into the Osprey First program, you must participate in the program or your admission will be canceled. Students are admitted to the Osprey First program because we believe it is the best path to student success. Upon successful completing of Osprey First, you will be able to enroll in fall classes.

    Students who do not want to participate are welcome to reapply for a future term as a transfer student. 

  • Do I have to live on campus during Osprey First?
    Living on campus is not required, but is recommended to fully immerse yourself in the program. Students who choose to live on campus will get a housing contract for the Summer B session. Though you don't have to live on campus, keep in mind that the program is in-person and takes place on campus.
  • What if I have already earned college credits through Dual Enrollment, AP, IB and/or AICE?

    If you have already earned college credit through dual enrollment, AP, IB or AICE, you can still participate in Osprey First. In fact, Osprey First was designed to be flexible so students like you can maximize the benefits of the program to fit your educational goals.

    Students in the Summer Pathway program will have numerous course blocks to pick from when registering. These blocks will include combinations of general education requirements in English, math, social sciences and the humanities.

    During New Student Orientation, your academic advisor will take everything into account, including your areas of strength, credit being brought in from accelerated mechanisms, and your career goals. They will then help you register for the appropriate course block. 

  • Is there an online option for the Osprey First program?

    No; due to the comprehensive nature of the program, both inside and outside of the classroom, Osprey First is an in-person program on UNF's campus.
