Elizabeth Larsen Music Scholarship

Purpose

Established by former teacher, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra violinist and supporter of the arts and education, Elizabeth Larsen, this scholarship is available to students in the string program.

Selection Criteria

  1. 1. Students eligible for such scholarships must:
    • Be a degree-seeking student, meet admissions requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida,
    • Express a desire to study classical music performance or music education,
    • Have a minimum UNF recalculated GPA of 2.5 or a minimum cumulative UNF GPA of 2.5., and
    • Be chosen by a committee of Department of Music faculty.
  2. Students awarded this scholarship must also agree to:
    • Enroll full time (12 or more hours per semester at UNF) and earn 24 credits by the end of each spring semester,
    • Consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the Donor and agree to meet with the Donor a maximum of four times an academic year through arrangements made by the Music Department,
    • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative UNF GPA (to be calculated at the end of each spring semester, and
    • Comply with all University regulations, rules and codes of conduct governing students on campus.
  3. Required Application Attachments

  4. Renewal
    • Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference during the faculty committee’s award considerations, pending the availability of funding and that all of the preceding responsibility requirements have been met.
    • No student will be eligible to receive more than 10 semesters of scholarship support. The amount of the award will be determined by the fund manager, but it cannot exceed the maximum cost of tuition, books, housing, meal plan, transportation and miscellaneous expenses, as reflected in the annual "Cost of Education" budget prepared by the Financial Aid Office.
