GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

The College of Arts and Sciences offers several graduate assistantship packages each year. These packages include a stipend and tuition waiver depending on the hours enrolled in graduate coursework.  

All financial aid discussed below is subject to change depending on College of Arts and Sciences allocations. 

Types of Graduate Assistantships 

 Employment Classification 

Graduate Assistant (Teaching Support) Duties and Responsibilities 

This category includes GAs who provide support to a qualified course instructor of Record -- such as grading tests, assisting in discussion or lab sub-sections led by faculty, and/or coordinating field logistics, but who are not responsible for teaching or evaluating students. 

Graduate Assistant (Non-Teaching Support) Duties and Responsibilities 

The category includes GAs who provide general educational administration duties, but who otherwise have no research and teaching responsibilities. The duties performed must directly contribute to the graduate student's program of study. 

Graduate Research Assistant Duties and Responsibilities 

The category includes GAs who are involved in faculty-supervised research, but who otherwise have no teaching responsibilities. 

Requirements 
  • Full-time graduate student with no more than 4 classes (12 credit hours) each term 
  • Student must complete a FERPA agreement in your MyWings account 
  • Maintain a graduate UNF GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • Must provide a current resume

Requirements for continued eligibility for the remainder of the award period:

The award recipient must: 

  1. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale while enrolled in the graduate program. 
  2. Maintain full-time enrollment in a UNF graduate program (minimum of 9 credit hours per semester for master’s students or minimum of 6 for doctoral students). 
  3. Maintain satisfactory performance as a graduate assistant.
