1. Who is eligible to be an adviser?
You must be a full time faculty or staff member to be able to advise a club.
2. How many clubs can I advise?
The amount of clubs you can advise is unlimited but make sure to not take on more than you can handle. Remember being a club adviser is a commitment.
3. How does a club register/re-register with Club Alliance?
If a student has approached you that they want to start a club, encourage them to fill out the club registration form to start becoming a registered student organization. Here is the link:
4. How can my club receive funding?
To be eligible for funding (Grant Requests, Special Requests, and Travel Requests), clubs must be in good standing and funding eligible. Contact us for more info.
5. What are my responsibilities as the adviser?
The responsibilities of an RSO adviser are to advise the organization members, represent the student organization and the University of North Florida.
6. What is expected of me as the adviser?
As an adviser, you should understand both UNF policies and Club Alliances policies to be able to advise your members. Below are some more specific expectations:
Attend a Club Alliance General meeting to stay up-to-date on our policies, deadlines, and events,
Read the RSO Handbook,
Meet with your club officers to discuss what their goals are and what they need from you,
Oversee the club treasurer's finances and the club secretary's meeting minutes.

8. Can I be held liable for the actions of my club?
The short answer is no, but by being the adviser you have taken on additional responsibility. The best idea is to prevent liabilities before they happen. If you are going to having an event, or anything where risk is involved, contact Dawn Knipe at

9. How does my organization make purchases?
Purchases are made through the Student Government Business and Accounting Office. The club must hold a funding eligible status with Club Alliance, as well as an active Grant. For more information about the Grant Request process, visit our
10. How can my club receive funding for travel?
Both individuals and groups of student can request funding from Student Government for travel. All requests are heard and determined by the Senate Budget and Allocations Committee. For more information on the Travel Request process, visit our
