Certification Achievement Incentive

Full-time Administrative & Professional employees may be granted a Certification Achievement Incentive (CAI) to recognize the attainment of a professional license, designation or certification. These licenses/designations/certifications must be recognized industry leading designations and relevant to the departmental needs as determined by the Department Manager/Supervisor and in a discipline that is relevant and related to the employee's current position which would enhance the employee's ability to perform the duties of that position. In addition, employees must be in good standing with the University, indicated by the overall rating on the employee's most recent written performance appraisal. The intent of this program does not include the completion of an academic degree. If the completion of certification, registration or licensure is a condition of employment, employees are ineligible for the professional development incentive.

The Certification Achievement Incentive may be awarded for licenses/designations/certifications that are completed subsequent to employment with UNF. This lump sum incentive will only be awarded once for each level achieved. Employees may receive only one incentive award per calendar year. Participation by the employee is to be pre-approved by the Department Manager/Supervisor.

The Certification Achievement Incentive is paid as a lump sum payment upon submission of proof of completion as follows:

  • Level I: $500
  • Level II: $750
  • Level III: $1,000

Upon completion of license/designation/certification, employee submits written confirmation of the completed designation to the supervisor. The University grants a lump sum, subject to the availability of funds, to employees who become licensed/certified by a recognized and accredited program.

An official transcript (if official transcript is not available at time of request, a copy may be submitted and an official forwarded later) or documentation indicating the date and type of certification must be submitted to the responsible administrator through the appropriate administrative channels for approval. The department should complete the Special Pay Increase request via OASYS Position Management, attaching the certified transcript and/or documentation confirming the achievement, submitted to the Office of Human Resources for review and payment processing.
