New Employee Resources

Welcome to the University of North Florida family! We are thrilled to have you as a new employee. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the University, as well as prepare for your first day of work. We hope you have a long and successful career here at the University of North Florida!

  • Where Do I Go?

Unless otherwise instructed by your supervisor, please attend your payroll processing appointment before or on your first day of work. Please use the following link to schedule an appointment to come into HR to process payroll.

Interactive Campus Map: (Human Resources is located in Building 1/J.J. Daniel Hall, Suite 1101)

  • Where Do I Park?

If you already have a virtual parking pass, please park wherever it is appropriate, given the type of parking pass.

For those who do not have a parking pass, please let HR know so they can provide you with a visitor parking code and refer to the information below. Please park in the Arena Parking Garage (Building 38), on the second floor or above (do not part in the orange staff spots). The parking garage is located adjacent to the John Delaney Student Union building.

Download the Flowbird app and enter the visitor validation code provided by HR to check-in. Additionally, you may utilize the parking kiosks to complete this process.

At the Kiosk, press 2 for Pay by Plate Parking using Department or Event Codes. Enter your license plate number and follow the on-screen prompts to activate your parking permit using the code provided by HR. (Note: the state of Florida does not use the letter O, only number zeros.) The kiosk will print a receipt of purchase - this does not need to be placed in your vehicle window.

  • What Do I Bring on My First Day?
    1. Acceptable documents for the Form I-9 to confirm your identity and authorization to work in the United States. A list of acceptable documents may be found on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website. Please note that all documentation must be original and unexpired, except that in certain instances, you may present Employment Authorization Documents (Forms I-766) and Permanent Resident Cards (Forms I-551) that appear to be expired on their face, but have been extended by USCIS.
    2. Direct deposit is required for all employees. For that purpose, we recommend you bring a voided personal check (for direct deposit). If you do not use checks, a statement or printout from your bank, including your account and routing numbers, will be sufficient. Please contact the Payroll Office if you would like to request an exception to this requirement.
  • What New Hire Paperwork Will I Complete?

In addition to completing your I-9, new employees are required to complete new hire paperwork during your HR appointment.

The chart below details the new hire paperwork for each position type. An "X" indicates which forms are completed by position type. New employees can review and complete the below documents (relevant to their position) before their first day. For questions about position type (e.g., Administrative, Support, etc.) or any of the below documents, please contact Human Resources at  (904) 620-2903 or submit an HR Help Request

  • New Employee Orientation - "Welcome to the Nest"

All new Administrative (A&P), Support Staff (USPS), and full-time OPS employees are required to attend new employee orientation on their first day of employment. Departments can request inclusion of other new employees (e.g., part-time OPS) in new employee orientation. All requests should be submitted via email to Human Resources.

“Welcome to the Nest” is our required new employee orientation program and is conducted biweekly on Mondays beginning at 8 am. Orientation will be conducted in the Office of Human Resources on the first floor of J.J. Daniel Hall (Building 1). Please call 904-620-2903 if you need assistance finding us; please see our Campus Map.

Employees attending Orientation will meet representatives from various departments including Human Resources (HR), the University Police Department (UPD), Physical Facilities, Auxiliary & Business Services, the Center for Professional Development and Training (CPDT), Information Technology Services (ITS), Equal Opportunity & Inclusion (EOI) and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S). In addition, new employees will learn how to get their Osprey ID card, myWings, UNF email, timesheets, annual and sick leave usage, insurance benefits, and other information essential to their position type and status as a university employee.
  • Network Access

Network access (n-number generation, UNF email, mywings access) for employees attending NEO is provided by Human Resources just before their scheduled orientation date. Network access is provided for all other position types when their position is approved and applied to banner. Departments may submit Network Access Requests for the following position types should they need network access before their position is applied to banner: part-time faculty/adjunct and full-time faculty.

All new employees should know how to access the UNF network.
