Educational Technology, Training and Development Program of Study

The graduate degree in Educational Technology, Training and Development is a fully-online master's program that encourages students to improve their professional practice using learning theory, technology, and leadership skills.

Admission Requirements

University requirements:

A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or its equivalent from a foreign institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all work attempted in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study.

Additional program requirements:

  2. Written statement identifying:
    • professional and career goals
    • aspiration
  3. Current resume
  4. Three letters of recommendation (using UNF's online reference system)

Course Descriptions

Technology in Education - EME 5403

This survey course for teachers and administrators emphasizes technology for personal and professional productivity. It prepares educators to integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Enhancing Instruction with Technology - EME 6050 (EDG 6434)

This course focuses on technology to enrich learning. Topics include the learning process; current applications of hardware, software and Internet; and integration of content standards. Prerequisite: computer literacy.

Educational Web Design - EME 6405

This course develops competencies in evaluating web pages for educational use, and in designing and producing effective web pages for school and classroom. Prerequisite: EME 5403, EDG 6271, or consent of instructor.

Educational Multimedia - EME 6418

This course focuses on design, development, and implementation of interactive media in instructional settings. Topics include: instructional design, optical technologies, hypermedia with audio and video. Prerequisite: EME 5403 or EDG 6271.

Educational Technology Systems - EME 6628

This course develops understanding of educational technology hardware and network systems, including budgeting, purchase, setup, maintenance, upgrade, management and effective use in the school setting.

Interactive Distance Education - EME 6409

This course introduces skills to enhance instruction and redefine the role of traditional education to online learning. Topics include planning and teaching for distance education; production and delivery tools; management; interactions; methods and strategies.

Technology for Literacy - EME 6990

This course explores the many ways the technology can support and enhance literacy instruction. Course topics include the digital scaffolding tools, technology for accommodations, digital reading options, and electronic books in many forms.

Technology for Special Populations - EME 6441

The course develops an understanding of assistive technology, accommodations, technology applications and adaptations to improve functionality of learners of all abilities, including ESE and ESOL. Prerequisite: Computer and telecommunications experience.

Educational Design for Digital Media - EME 7415

This course focuses on the study and application of instructional design principles to the development of multimedia materials. Students design and develop a multimedia project. Prerequisite: EME 6415 or consent of instructor.

Instructional Design and Applications - EME 6601

This course focuses on the application of instructional design principles to the development of instruction. Topics include issues, trends, foundations, instructional design stages, and technology.

Educational Technology for Leadership - EDA 6271

This course is designed as an introduction to computerized systems for the management and delivery of the educational system, with an emphasis on basic microcomputer applications. The goal of the course is to develop knowledge and understanding of the appropriate application of technology in the teaching and learning process and in the management of educational programs.

Virtual Teams - EME 6991 (Special Topics)

An introduction to developing high performing virtual work teams, leading virtual teams, and improving organizational teamwork in school and other learning organizations.

Technology and - ESL EME 6990 (Special Topics)

This course is designed as an introduction how technology can be used as a teaching tool for students who are English as a Second Language learners (ESL, ESOL, etc).

Teaching, Training and Learning in the COVID-19 Era - EME 6990

This course is designed to explore current topics and instructional strategies for managing learning during COVID-19 and beyond. This is for any student who wishes to develop training and teaching skills which adapt for the ways in which crisis/emergency events impact learning environments, like COVID-19, for the short term and the long term.
