B.S. Learning Design and Technology Program of Study

Major: Learning Design and Technology 

Degree: Bachelor of Science

Program of Study (120 Credit Hours)

The B.S. degree is designed as a 120-credit hour program, comprised of core courses along with specific course and general electives. Additionally, the program director may approve outside electives when appropriate to a specific student’s career goals or professional needs, including an option for independent study.

Lower Division Courses (60 credits)

  • General Education Courses (36 credits)
  • Lower Division Electives (12 credits)
    • EME 1000: Introduction to Learning Design & Technology (3 credits)
    • EME 2040 Introduction to Educational Technology for Learning Professionals (3 credits)
    • SPC 2608 Fundamentals of Speech (or equivalent) (3 credits) 
    • STA 2014 (GM) Elementary Statistics for Health and Social Sciences (3 credits)Foundation Courses (9 Credits)

Upper Division Courses (18 credits)

  • Upper Division Electives (18 credits) – these credit hours can be found in the catalog list in either 3000-level or 4000-level course designation. Advisors will provide students with guidance when choosing these courses that best align with the program of study and student interests that may align with complementary undergraduate minors.
  • EME 3044 Issues and Trends in Learning Design & Technology is offered as a rotating course with a current topics/experimental course as defined by the semester in which it is delivered and can be take up to three times (maximum 9 credit hours) with approval from program director(s) in addition to or in lieu of courses where appropriate as defined by program leadership.
