Master of Science in ASL/English Interpreting

Interpreting Pedagogy Concentration

Known for its reputable faculty and innovative Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in ASL/English Interpreting, UNF is a forerunner in distance learning for Interpreter Education.  UNF provides an exciting opportunity offering interpreters a chance to earn a Master's degree that will prepare them to teach the interpreting process in colleges and universities.  If you are interested in a career teaching interpreting or are already doing so and would like a cutting-edge curriculum taught by top educators in the field, then this program is for you! 

The Interpreting Pedagogy concentration is offered via distance learning (no need to relocate) with a combination of online courses and hybrid courses. Students go through the program as a cohort of 10-15 select students and take two classes each semester. The entire program is 30 credit hours, and students can graduate from UNF in Jacksonville, FL in 18 months.  

The master's program is developed in accordance with current spoken and signed language research and strives to provide students a global perspective on the interpreting profession, a foundation in interpreting studies literature, and a growth mindset for lifelong learning and skills development.

    Program Format:  The program is primarily online and most classes will include some synchronous online meetings.  There is typically one in-person meeting in the summer term for one week.

    Program Notes:  This program typically admits in the summer term and courses are offered in a 5-term rotation, 2 courses per term.  Courses are only offered once in a 5-semester cycle.  The course sequence below is designed to give you an idea of when courses will be offered, but it is subject to change.
