Current Duval County Public Schools seniors who are interested in attending the University of North Florida and pursuing a healthcare-connected major are invited to attend the Duval County Public Schools Innovation Challenge and participate in the MedNexus Future Healthcare Scholarship Drawing.
MedNexus will award five renewable scholarships through a random drawing. Each scholarship has a maximum value of $10,000 and provides up to $2,500 per academic year for as many as four academic years, beginning with the Fall 2027–28 academic year.
This scholarship drawing is separate from the student Innovation Challenge competition. Students do not need to participate in the Innovation Challenge competition to register for the scholarship drawing.
Advance registration is required and is limited to the first 100 students who submit complete registrations and satisfy the initial eligibility requirements. A waitlist will be maintained after registration reaches capacity.
To be included in the drawing, a student must:
- Be enrolled as a senior in a Duval County Public Schools high school during the 2026–27 academic year;
- Be on track to graduate in 2027;
- Intend to apply to UNF for enrollment beginning in the 2027–28 academic year;
- Intend to pursue an approved healthcare-connected major at UNF (see list in rules);
- Complete the advance registration process by November 2, 2026;
- Receive confirmation that the registration has been accepted;
- Attend the Innovation Challenge on November 12, 2026
- Check in by 5:15pm; and
- Be present at the event when the scholarship drawing is conducted.
Registering does not guarantee admission to the event, entry into the drawing, selection as a scholarship recipient, admission to UNF, or receipt of scholarship funds.
NO PURCHASE, PAYMENT, DONATION, OR ENTRY FEE IS NECESSARY. A purchase or payment will not improve a student’s chance of selection.
If selected, a student will be considered a provisional scholarship recipient. Before scholarship funds are disbursed, the student must graduate from a DCPS high school in 2027; be admitted to and enroll at UNF beginning Fall 2027; qualify as a Florida resident for tuition purposes; enroll at least half time in an approved healthcare-connected major; and satisfy the academic, financial-aid, and other requirements established in the scholarship agreement.
Please review the Official Rules before registering.
