Tailgating is Back!

Student Government in partnership with UNF Athletics will be hosting a tailgating party for students on Monday, November 6th, from 3:00-7:00PM, for the first home game of the season for the men's basketball team.

Election Season is Upon Us

The Office of Elections successfully completed Student Government Senator Elections. Voting took place online, at the Student Union Plaza, and Carpenter Library on October 24th and 25th.


Grand Re-Opening of the Boathouse Bar & Grill

Student Government in partnership with UNF Dining Services proudly re-opened an iconic location on campus, The Boathouse Bar & Grill. On October 18th, The Boathouse had its grand re-opening ceremony, proudly serving students great food and good times. The Boathouse Bar & Grill is located on the second floor of the John A. Delaney Student Union West Building.  

Osprey Involvement Fair

 On October 16th, Osprey Involvement Center hosted their annual Involvement Fair. Over 40 RSOs were out tabling in Osprey Plaza. Free food from food trucks and goodies were given out to all the students who attend the event. 

OIC Commuter Day

 On October 2nd, Osprey Involvement Center, hosted Commuter Day in Lot 18 to show appreciation to all the students who commute to UNF. They provided free coffee to students commuting that morning.  

Fly on Over to Lend-A-Wing 

Lend-A-Wing, an agency of Student Government, had 2,069 visits to the pantry during the month of September, the most in LAW history. This was possible from the generosity of over 14,000 items bought and donated. 

Movie on a Silver Screen Initiative 

 Student Government started a new initiative this Fall semester to bring a wide variety of movies to the UNF student body. The movie nights are hosted at the Student Union Auditorium and are free to all students. 

New Executive Agency: Osprey Student Conduct Advisors 

The logo for the OSCA, featuring an osprey with its wings spread, connected to the scales of justice. The text reads, "Osprey Student Conduct Advisors, Established in 2023."
 As an Executive Agency of the University of North Florida Student Government, the Osprey Student Conduct Advisors (OSCA) shall enhance the overall student conduct process to provide students with the information they are afforded as members of the UNF community. OSCA as an agency promotes knowledge, provides awareness of ethical conduct standards and the student conduct process, overall improving the student conduct relationship and facilitating an environment that develops trust between the advisors and students.

Student Government Opens up Applications 

Student Government opened up applications for students to apply to, totaling an amount of $68,500 to be awarded.

Student Government Comedy Show: Hosted by Eric Andre

 Student Government hosted a free comedy show for all UNF students on August 25th and brought comedian Eric Andre to campus.  

Free Jumbo Shrimp Minor League Baseball Tickets

Student Government negotiated with the Minor League Baseball team, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, and provided 250 free tickets for the UNF student body (students with an active Osprey OneCard, must be currently enrolled and an A&S fee-paying student). Tickets are redeemable for any 2023 regular-season game, regular admission. 

Subsidized NFL Jacksonville Jaguar Season Tickets

Student Government proudly partnered with the Jacksonville Jaguar NFL team to provide subsidized season tickets. Tickets cost $240 for 200-level seating and $320 for 400-level seating. The tickets will be dispersed to any UNF student with an active Osprey OneCard (must be currently enrolled and an A&S fee-paying student) on August 21st, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. 

SG Allocates Funds RecWell Turf Field and Beach Volleyball Lighting

 Student Government unanimously voted to allocate $87,739.87 for new lights over the RecWell Turf Field and Beach Volleyball courts to enhance the cultural, societal, and recreational well-being of the students.

 


New On-Campus Dining Experience: Qdoba

 After surveying the student population about new dining options, most students suggested that they would like a Tex-Mex restaurant. Therefore, $202,913.38 was allocated to the adoption and opening of Qdoba.

SG Senate Approves Funding for Three Performances of Cinderella by Swoop Troupe

students performing in the show cinderellaThrough SB-22f-3650, Student Government Senators approved the allocation of $19,201.38 to the Swoop troupe for performance space, set pieces, costume pieces, marketing materials, and props for three performances of Cinderella. 

 SG Initiative: Articulated Model Skeleton

The anatomically correct model skeleton increases student engagement in the library and provides a physical, free resource for students in medical-related programs to study more effectively. 

SG Allocates Funding for Visiting Ceramic Artist Mark Errol

UNF Ceramics Club hosted Mark Errol- a nationally recognized ceramics artist for a two-day workshop. 

 Osprey Racing Club Places 18th overall at The Michigan International Speedway

Through SB-22f-3649, A Special Request of $35,462.78 was approved through the Student Government Senate to allow Osprey Racing to purchase material for the newest iteration of their racecar.
