Brian Verkamp, Ed.D.
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
As Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Brian Verkamp is responsible to the President of the University and serves as a member of the President’s executive cabinet. Verkamp leads and manages all aspects of the University’s information technology services, providing executive leadership and strategic vision for the institution’s technology infrastructure, artificial intelligence, campus technology, digital assets, cybersecurity, compliance, and information services. With more than 25 years of experience in information technology, Verkamp has provided strategic vision and leadership across higher education, research, healthcare, and learning environments. He is deeply passionate about student success and is committed to fostering a culture of care that supports the academic and personal growth of students and faculty. Verkamp holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Engineering Technology and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cincinnati, as well as a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida.
Jeff Durfee
Associate Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer &
Deputy CIO
Jeff Durfee brings over 20 years of security experience to his role as the Associate Vice-President and Chief Information Security Officer. He has been with UNF since 2003 in a variety of leadership positions and when not busy protecting UNF’s data and information, enjoys keeping active in university service. He is a past president of the A&P Association, a member of the Crisis Management Team, Technical Security Committee, Sunshine State Educational and Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA), IT Advisory Council (ITAC) and has served on EDUCAUSE advisory groups focused on higher education’s unique security issues and training opportunities. In 2013, Jeff inaugurated an annual cybersecurity symposium in conjunction with the FBI. This became a model for higher education and FBI partnerships, resulting in UNF receiving the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award in 2020.
Chris Petrello

Chris Petrello is an enterprise support expert and information technology professional. He has guided his career by the phrase "I'm here to help". Chris believes that success in technology begins with people. Throughout his career, Chris has focused on connecting people and technology to support them in performing their work and achieving their goals. Chris has been successful at multiple levels of technology leadership and is a creative problem solver, effective leader, and trusted partner. Prior to joining UNF, Chris worked in the Financial and Public Education sectors. Chris earned his bachelor's degree from Flagler College and his master's degree from Valdosta State University.
Megan Kuehner

Megan Kuehner is the Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Services and Strategy at the University of North Florida. With over fifteen years of experience in higher education administration, she oversees the comprehensive suite of integrated applications and tools that support and manage various business processes across the university. Megan strives to ensure that key initiatives align with institutional priorities, support student success and operational efficiency. She is dedicated to enhancing the academic experience through strategic planning and active stakeholder engagement. Megan holds a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Florida

Jason Jones is the Assistant Vice President of Shared Technology Infrastructure and Services at the University of North Florida. With over a decade of experience in higher education technology, he is responsible for the university’s technical infrastructure, technical platforms, and business applications. His leadership ensures that data operations, business applications, and cloud and on-premises infrastructure align with institutional goals to support administrative, instructional, research, and outreach activities. Jason is committed to leveraging technology to improve the student experience. He believes that taking care of people ensures mission success and prioritizes solutions that make processes easier, faster, and more transparent.
