National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)is the governing council for the nine historically black Greek-letter organizations; fivefraternities and foursororities. Each of the nine NPHC fraternities and sororities was designed to foster brotherhood and sisterhood and serve as conduits by which action plans could be formulated to influence social action and change in the black community.

How to Join

Each NPHC fraternity and sorority brings in new members at various times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. All organizations governed by the National Panhellenic Council have different requirements for membership and Membership Intake may be conducted based on the chapters schedule and/or approval to do so. Some organizations conduct Intake each semester; others do so only once a year.

All individuals seeking to join an NPHC chapter at UNF must meet all OFSL membership requirements. Please refer to the “How to Join” page under our “Potential Members” tab for more information. Additionally, all potential interests must attend a MGC & NPHC Etiquette session, hosted by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life multiple times throughout the year.
