Fraternity and Sorority Life

Community Pillars

The fraternity and sorority community at UNF is grounded on five pillars of excellence: community engagement, leadership, integrity, personal growth, and scholarship.  The undergraduate fraternal experience should encompass all five pillars to provide students with a holistic developmental experience.

Chapters are measured on their achievement in these areas through our Chapter Accreditation Plan and Council Assessment Standards.

Community Engagement

As fraternity and sorority members, our privilege on and off campus obligates us to give back to the community, our campus, and our city.  This can take the form of philanthropy (raising money for a non-profit organization) or through service (the use of time and talents to help others).

Leadership

Our organizational missions and histories are dedicated towards making people better so they can lead others in ethical and moral ways.  Chapters create pipelines through involvement in other on-campus organizations, encouraging members to pursue internal leadership experiences, and participating in various trainings/educational programming.

Integrity

As organizations focused on perpetuating the highest ideals, fraternities and sororities ought to conduct themselves with the utmost respect for their membership, other chapters, and UNF students, faculty, and staff members.  Operating and hosting events in good taste and with respect to all is necessary in demonstrating this respect, civility, and ethical conduct.

Personal Growth

Fraternities and sororities exist to perpetuate both personal and professional development.  Aiding our members through continuous membership education is essential to maintaining and fulfilling this mission.

Scholarship

Our members are first and foremost here to obtain an education.  Academic excellence should be of highest priority, and Greek students are held to a higher standard for our academic performance, thus our pursuits should reflect that higher standard.
