A team from UNF's EMMAPS Lab, including Dr. J. David Lambert (Construction Management), Terry L. Smith (Research Technology Services), and David King (Computing graduate student) along with Larry Treadaway
(UF), led the "Rain Watching 101" S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Math) activity for Timucuan Adventure Day at the Fort Caroline National Memorial
on 01 February 2014. Children and adults were trained on how to make
and report accurate rainfall observations as part of the Community
Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow (CoCoRaHS)
Network. CoCoRaHS is a
grassroots, non-profit, community-based, precipitation-monitoring
network of volunteers who take daily measurements of precipitation in
their own backyards. Over 130 children and adults participated in this
citizen science event.
