Message From The Dean

Chip Klostermeyer Dean CCEC with the words "Message From The Dean" next to him.

Greeting Friends, Supporters, and Alumni of CCEC,

This past year was one of excellence for the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction. Our students placed first or second in multiple national and regional competitions, while our faculty continued their exceptional work on numerous research projects (e.g., in renewable energy, coastal sciences, and cybersecurity). We have hired several excellent new faculty for the fall semester, including a new chair of Construction Management, engineers specializing in environmental engineering and renewable energy, and a computer scientist who previously worked at Snapchat. We will continue our growth next year, with faculty searches taking place in all our units. We have received transformational gifts from Johnson & Johnson and JEA, and other recent gifts that will strengthen our programs and create new opportunities for students and faculty. In addition to private gifts, UNF is expecting additional funding from the state starting in July 2023. This investment will be of tremendous importance to all of UNF, including CCEC. More information to come.
Finally, we are excited about the inaugural UNF FinTech Symposium to be held Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Adam W. Herbert University Center; bringing together industry partners from the region and beyond as we kick off new FinTech academic programs joint with the Coggin College of Business.
Thank you for all your support of the College Creating Exciting Careers.

JEA Sustainable Solutions Lab

We're excited to announce JEA's support of the JEA Sustainable Solutions Lab in the School of Engineering. The collaboration will provide our students with hands-on experience in areas like clean and renewable energy technology and water sustainability. The space will also serve as a resource to the community and facilitate projects between UNF students and local industry.

AVRGlove Wins 1st Place in the Spring 2023 School of Computing Symposium

AVRGlove, a project by Ethan Coco and Maxwell Twardowski, is a virtual reality glove controller that allows users to interact with virtual environments in an immersive and natural manner. This project aims to provide an accessible and affordable option for custom virtual reality gloves by simplifying the procedures and instructions for end-users to easily replicate the devices. This project won first place at the Spring 2023 School of Computing Symposium. Ethan and Maxwell plan on continuing the project to reduce the hardware cost further and conduct a user study to understand how to improve the design.
