Alumni Recognition Awards

Each year during Homecoming the Alumni Association honors alumni doing great things for our community and for UNF. Our alumni are not only impacting Northeast Florida, but they are strengthening UNF's reputation around the country … and even around the globe.

Call for Nominations Begins: July 29, 2024
Nomination Deadline: October 25, 2024
Alumni Recognition Dinner and Awards Ceremony: February 5, 2025

Nomination Process

Nominations will be accepted from all persons, organizations, and groups. Nominators must complete the nomination form found below. Nomination forms must be completed in their entirety by 10/25/24.

Nominators should be careful that all titles are accurate, as submitted information will be used to prepare news releases and other promotional materials.

Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award

The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honor given to a graduate of the university. To be nominated for this award, a UNF graduate must have made significant contributions to his or her profession, community and/or society, and have consistently maintained the pursuit of excellence as a representative and graduate of UNF.

Award Selection Criteria

Must have a degree from the University of North Florida.
Must have attained the highest level of professional accomplishments.
Voluntary service on a local, state, national or international level is evident.
Special honors or recognition may strengthen the nomination.
Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
Those who have previously won the Distinguished Alumni Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Young Alumni Achievement Award

The Young Alumni Achievement Award is presented to alumni of UNF for outstanding professional achievement, contributions to the community and exemplary service to the University. The recipient must have completed his/her UNF degree within the last 10 years.

Award Selection Criteria

Must have a degree from University of North Florida, with the first UNF degree granted within the past 10 years.
Must be 35 years or younger as of Dec. 31 in the year of nomination.
Must have attained a high level of professional accomplishment.
Must have demonstrated outstanding voluntary or other public service on a local, state, national or international level. This should include service to University of North Florida and participation in other clubs, service organizations, or community involvement within the past 10 years.
Special honors, awards or recognition may also be submitted for consideration.
Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
Those who have previously won the Young Alumni Achievement Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Alumni Service Award

The Alumni Service Award is presented to alumni of UNF who have demonstrated continuing outstanding volunteer service on a local, state, national, or international level - including at UNF, through clubs or service organizations, or through other community involvement. Candidates must possess the highest standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of UNF.

Award Selection Criteria

Must be a graduate or have previously attended the University of North Florida.
Must have demonstrated continuing outstanding voluntary service on a local, state, national or international level - including at UNF, through clubs or service organizations, or through other community involvement.
Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
Those who have previously won the Alumni Service Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Alumni-Owned Business Service Award

The Alumni-Owned Business Service Award is presented to an alumni-owned business which has demonstrated continuing outstanding service to UNF and through other community involvement on a local, state, national or international level.

Award Selection Criteria

Business must be owned by someone who previously attended the University of North Florida.
Must have demonstrated continuing outstanding voluntary service on a local, state, national or international level - including at UNF, through clubs or service organizations, or through other community involvement.
Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
Those who have previously won the Alumni-Owned Business Service Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Honorary Alumni Award

The Honorary Alumni Award is given to friends and supporters of UNF for exemplary service to the University. Do you know someone who loves UNF and is full of Osprey pride, but isn't actually an Osprey? Let us know!

Award Selection Criteria

Must not be a graduate of University of North Florida.
Must have demonstrated continuing outstanding voluntary service to the University of North Florida on a local, state, national or international level.
Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
Those who have previously won the Honorary Alumni Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.
