Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Minor

Students who plan to apply for the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) License through Florida’s Department of Health should note that the minor satisfies only 18 of the required 24 credits needed for licensure. Students must earn an additional 6 credits related to human growth and development and psychology to be eligible to apply for licensure.

Students planning to pursue a master's degree to become a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist through an American Speech–Language–Hearing Association (ASHA) approved master's program in CSD) must meet additional prerequisite course requirements. Enrollment in an ASHA approved master’s degree program requires one of each of the following courses: biology, physics or chemistry, statistics, and psychology or social sciences (e.g., anthropology, archaeology, economics, political science).

Students must earn a "C" grade or higher and an overall 2.5 GPA in the minor.
