April 11, 2025
The University of North Florida’s Silverfield College of Education and Human Services proudly celebrated its student researchers at the 2025 Showcase of Osprey Achievements in Research and Scholarship (SOARS). Held annually in conjunction with UNF Research Week, SOARS provides undergraduate and graduate students across all disciplines a platform to present their research, scholarship, and creative activities.
This year’s SOARS conference featured 127 poster presentations and 30 oral presentations, representing all five academic colleges and the Hicks Honors College. Students presented their work at various stages of development, gaining valuable experience in research communication while strengthening their academic and professional skills.
Silverfield College of Education and Human Services was well represented by an outstanding group of student researchers:
- Daria Poliakova and Syeda Hyder "Teacher and Student Talk in Early Engineering Classrooms: A Mixed Methods Analysis of Small-Group Interactions"
- Andrea K. W. Smith "Impact of Kindergarten Instructional Assistants on Student Reading Achievement"
- Robin Bossinger and Stephanie Clemons-Kirby "Designing Research to Study Outcomes Across a School-University Partnership" Award: Audience Choice Award, Oral Session II

We extend a special congratulations to Robin Bossinger and Stephanie Clemons-Kirby, who earned the Audience Choice Award in Oral Session II for their presentation on designing research to study outcomes across a school-university partnership, mentored by Dr. David Hoppey from the Department of Leadership, School Counseling, and Sport Management.
The SOARS 2025 conference concluded with a keynote address by Dr. Sebastian Alvarado of Queens College, CUNY, co-sponsored by the UNF U-RISE program.
The Silverfield College is incredibly proud of all the students who presented at SOARS and extends deep appreciation to the faculty mentors who guided their research journeys. Congratulations to all on their remarkable achievements!
