Transformational Learning Experiences
Opportunites are available for a variety of enriching experiences while pursuing a CIS degree at UNF, including but not limited to directed independent research, experiential learning, and internships. Additional transformational learning opportunities may be available as part of selected senior level courses.
CIS 4900 - Directed Independent Study (1.0 - 3.0 credits)
Research opportunities are available for senior level computing students with School of Computing faculty. Topics must be supportive of the student's overall program.
No more than six credit hours of directed independent study may be applied to a student's program of study. A maximum of three credit hours with the same Computing faculty member is allowed. All directed independent study proposals must be approved by the director of the School.
CIS 3949 - Experiential Studies in Computer Science ( 0.0 - 3.0 credits)
Experiential learning (Co-op) opportunities are available for students with a minimum of 6.0 credits of core computing courses completed. Students will participate in supervised work experiences related to the computing field. Acceptance into the cooperative education program is required as a prerequisite.
No more than six credit hours of experiential learning (co-op) credit may be applied to a student's program of study. All co-op proposals must be approved by the director of the School. A maximum of three credit hours can be applied toward the required major elective credits.
