Graduate Certificate in Reading and Literacy for K-12 Reading Endorsement

Earn your Florida Reading Endorsement while completing half of a master’s degree! Our reading endorsement courses equip educators with the skills to deliver effective, evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with FLDOE competencies.

These courses are designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to support student literacy development across diverse learning contexts. Participants will explore the science of reading, including research-backed instructional strategies that enhance motivation, engagement, and comprehension. They will learn to implement structured, multisensory approaches to reading instruction that address foundational literacy skills, such as phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, and vocabulary acquisition. Additionally, educators will gain expertise in assessing and identifying reading difficulties, including dyslexia, and applying targeted interventions within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS).

The curriculum emphasizes the integration of digital literacies, children’s and young adult literature, and scaffolding strategies to meet students' cultural and developmental needs. Through coursework and field-based application, educators will develop the ability to provide explicit, systematic, and data-driven reading instruction that fosters lifelong literacy success.
