  • Concentration: Student Affairs

This concentration specifically prepares students for careers in Student Affairs and Student Life. This covers a wide range of campus positions from Diversity & Inclusion, Student Conduct, Housing, Career Services, Greek Life, Student Organizations, Disability Services, Veterans Services, and everything else needed to promote student success in Higher Education. Unlike many programs that focus solely on the entry-level service positions in Student Affairs, the MS In Higher Education Administration includes the administrative training to allow graduates of this track to prepare for lifelong careers as both providers and leaders of student services.

  • Concentration: International Programs

UNF’s MS in HEA in one of the very few programs in the World that offers an international concentration in Higher Education. This specialized program is designed to prepare students for careers as Directors of International Programs in colleges and universities, as well as affiliated work such as employment with third-party study-abroad providers and also employment in Institutions of Higher Education outside of the United States. This track focuses on recruitment and support of international students as well as the planning and leadership of study abroad programs.

Students in this concentration complete a specific elective program that includes a practicum where they assist a member of the UNF faculty in preparing an actual study abroad experience and then their own study abroad course where they accompany the trip by providing administrative and logistical support for that faculty member. This trip can also include opportunities to visit and interact with foreign colleges and universities in the destination countries.

Ultimately, professionals in this area can aspire to be college and university Athletic Directors or work in the management of collegiate athletic conferences and even the NCAA.

Students in this concentration complete the core HEA program and then three or four electives in UNF’s graduate program in Sport Management.

  • Concentration: Non-Profit Management

Unique to UNF’s program in Higher Education Administration is our joint program in Non-Profit Management with UNF’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Students in this track actually complete the Certificate in Non-Profit Management in addition to the core MS in HEA program. This concentration is designed for professionals who work with grant-funded programs, sponsored research, and institutionally affiliated non-profit entities such as research institutes and foundations.

Although available as a primary track to all enrolled HEA students, this concentration is often selected a second-concentration in the HEA degree.
