School of Computing Symposium

About the Events

Poster Review

The School of Computing Symposium: Poster Review event features course projects, thesis projects, and other types of faculty research projects by undergraduate and graduate students. Students will share their work on Tuesday, November 29th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Student Union Building 58W, room 3703. The top projects will be selected to participate in the Formal Presentation portion of the symposium. 

Formal Presentation

The School of Computing Symposium: Formal Presentation event features the best course projects, thesis projects, and other types of faculty research projects based on voting conducted during the Poster Review event. Students will describe their work during a TED Talk-style presentation. This event will provide an opportunity to learn about the projects and research performed by promising computing faculty and students.

*Both events are open to the public, but registration is required.

Program Schedule

Poster Review

During the event, attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite posters. Students whose posters receive the most votes will present their project or research at the Formal Presentation event.

Schedule:

  • 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm - Students setting up their poster
  • 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm - Check-in and registration *
  • 1:00 pm - Event kickoff
  • 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm - Attendees view posters and provide feedback
  • 4:00 pm to 4:15 pm - Event closing **

* Visitors may check in anytime during the event.

**Poster Review winners will be recognized at the Formal Presentation event.

Formal Presentation

Attendees are allowed and encouraged to vote on the presentations during the event. Students who receive the most votes will be announced as the symposium prize winners.

  • 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm - Check-in and registration *
  • 1:00 pm - Event kickoff
  • 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm - Attendees watch presentations and provide feedback
  • 4:00 pm to 4:15 pm - Event closing **
