Dr. Valerie Morrison, DBA, MSM, BSN, RN


Director of Student Health Services

Dr. Morrison is a UNF alumna, graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1991. She returns to UNF following retirement from the U.S. Navy as a Captain with 30 years of service. As a Navy Nurse Corps officer, she held many clinical and leadership positions to include Chief Nursing Officer at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where she led her team to the historic first American Nurses Credentialing Center Pathway to Excellence designated facility in the Department of Defense. She is a Board Certified Advanced Nurse Executive and a Senior Certified Professional in Human Resources Management. She holds a Master of Science in Administration and a Doctorate in Business Administration. She is excited to be back in the Nest and part of a team providing top-notch health services to the UNF community. She is married to John, and they have two children. In her free time, she enjoys plant-based food prep, essential oils, yoga, and power walking/jogging. She is proud to have completed the Marine Corps Marathon two times.

Dr. Julie Baker-Townsend, APRN


Nurse Practitioner

Julie is a Nurse Practitioner at Student Health Services at the University of North Florida. She holds a Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Florida, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of North Florida. She is a board certified nurse practitioner in Women's Health and Family Practice. She is an Assistant Professor in the Brooks College of Health School of Nursing. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.

Mrs. Baker-Townsend is involved in the University of North Florida Nursing Alumni Association. She participates in professional organizations such as Sigma Theta Tau and Awhonn.

She enjoys family activities such as serving as leadership in her daughter's high school marching band. She and her family enjoy traveling.

Nurse Practitioner

Amy is an Advance Practice Registered Nurse specializing in Women's Health. She earned a Bachelor's in Nursing here at UNF in 1996 (summa cum laude), followed by a Master's in Nursing from the University of Florida in 2001. She has a varied background in nursing, but found a passion for Women's Health in 2015. Helping women learn about and take charge of their reproductive and sexual health is a passion for Amy.

Amy is from Jacksonville and is married with two children. She loves supporting her children's athletics as well as travel, reading and cooking.

Dr. Lillia Loriz, APRN


Nurse Practitioner

Dr Loriz completed her BSN at Georgetown University. She completed her MSN as a Nurse practitioner at Marymount University in Virginia while working as a nurse at George Washington University and her PhD in Nursing Administration at George Mason University, while working full-time as a nurse in clinical trials. She has been at UNF since 1996 and has been the Director for the School of Nursing for 12 years. Dr Loriz maintains a clinical practice at the University as a Nurse Practitioner at Student Health. She has a passion for nursing and for facilitating the learning of future nurses.

In her spare time she is an avid cave diver and spelunker.

Pat Richards, APRN


Nurse Practitioner

Patricia is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in family practice and primary care. She is board certified in her specialty by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Pat obtained her basic nursing education at St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Jacksonville Florida. She obtained her BSN at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, as well as a certificate as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner from UVA, and her MSN from the University of Phoenix. She obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from UNF in 2017. She also has an M.Ed in adult education from the University of Florida. She has been a nurse practitioner since 1976. Pat has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, and also holds membership in the Florida Nurses Association and the NE Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners, where she has held many leadership positions. She currently works full time for the University of North Florida, dividing her time between the Student Health Clinic as an APRN and the Brooks College of Health as an assistant professor, primarily in the graduate nursing program.

Pat lives in St. Augustine and enjoys the quiet beach life there with her husband and their dog. She enjoys family time with their 5 children and 4 grandchildren. She likes to cook, sew, read, and spend time on the water.

Marjorie Hartmann has been a nurse for UNF Student Health Services since 2014 and the Co-Nurse Lead since 2022. Her background includes 5 years as a Surgical Technologist and Corpsman in the US Navy. She is an alumna of the Brooks College of Health nursing program. Marjorie's husband is currently serving in the US Navy. They have 2 children, 2 dogs, and too many chickens.

Registered Nurse

Dena is another awesome RN who works at SHS in the clinic and is the Co-Nurse Lead. She graduated with her BSN from UCF in 2007. She started her nursing career working med/surg units for Mayo, St. Vincent's, and Baptist Health but has worked in Student Health Services at UNF since 2018. Her husband, Justin, has worked at UNF in IT since 2007. Together they have 3 children and a spunky labradoodle. She enjoys running, baking, traveling, and swimming.

Registered Nurse

Nadine Greene is the Clinic Educator/Primary RN-GYN who graduated from University of William Paterson in N.J. with a BSN and also has a MPH from University of North Florida. She has a background in floor and surgical nursing and has been with UNF Student Health Services since 2014. She is married with two children, a cranky cat, and a large yellow lab. She enjoys running, tennis, teaching, anything that sparkles, chocolate, the color purple, and reading.

Christina is a RN who works with Student Health Services part-time and has been with us since 2018. She recently graduated with her BSN from UNF this past year. In her free time she enjoys hiking, scuba diving, running and traveling.

Solange is a part-time RN at SHS. She graduated from UNF's accelerated BSN program in 2018. Her experience is primarily in sexual and reproductive health and education. Julie is a graduate of Marymount University and member of Sigma Theta Tau (Eta Alpha) serving ten years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and later as a Nurse Corps Officer specializing in emergency medicine, trauma, and reconstructive surgery. Following an overseas tour, she began working in the civilian sector as an oncology nurse at the Mayo Clinic and in primary care. Her husband, Dave is a former naval aviator and current Assistant Professor at the University of Florida. In her free time, Julie enjoys playing tennis, sailing, and boating with her husband and watching daughters, Alex and Reilly, row crew.

Alexandra is an Osprey RN that graduated from UNF’s BSN program in 2018. She has experience in Pediatric and NICU nursing. She loves her job at our Student Health Services because she enjoys promoting overall health and wellness with her patients. Aside from being a nurse at our clinic, she teaches Catholic Religious Education to children at her parish. She enjoys exercising, going to Zumba classes, cooking, traveling, reading, going to mass, and spending time with her husband.

Nicole has been a nurse since 2018. She has worked in med-surg/oncology and transplant nursing. She came over to UNF because she loved working with college-aged students. Nursing is her passion, but on her days off she loves traveling with her husband and spending time at the beach with her dog.

Post-Graduate Fellow

Matt is a Post-Graduate Fellow with OspreyPERCH for the Student Health Services office.  He received a Master’s degree in Social Work from UNF in May 2022.  He was a student counseling intern with PERCH last year.  The internship helped him gain valuable knowledge and experience in integrating traditional therapeutic approaches with other creative modalities including expressive arts and journaling.  He will continue gaining clinical experience during his fellowship as he pursues his goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  In his free time, he enjoys reading, going to the gym, and spending time with his family and friends.
