Celebrating Graduates

This spring The Center for Community-Based Learning awarded the very first Osprey Community Engagement Medallions to recognize students who demonstrate exemplary commitment to the greater Jacksonville community through activities such as community-based learning, volunteerism, community or social advocacy, community-based Federal work-study, and political engagement during their years as a UNF student.

Congratulations to Electrical Engineering Student Ayshka Rodriguez; Engagement Focus: Community-Based Research, Volunteerism, and Outreach.

Ayshka, along with the other Spring 2016 recipients are highlighted on the Osprey Community Engagement website. You are encouraged to read her community engagement bio.

The Summer 2016 applications will be available in early May. We expect to celebrate more CCEC students in the future.

The School of Computing Symposium features course projects, thesis projects, and other types of faculty research projects carried out by undergraduate and graduate students. The School of Engineering and the Outreach & Recruitment Office are partnering with the Naval Sea Systems Command, Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), Mayport, FL in supporting the Greater Jacksonville Regional SeaPerch Qualifying Competition which will be held on April 2, 2016 from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the Cecil Field Aquatic Center, Jacksonville, Florida.

The University of North Florida and MD&D Global Services, LLC, part of Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain, have partnered to establish the 3-D Printing and Netshape Technologies Center Polymer Laboratory at UNF. The new lab, in the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction, is dedicated to the study, analysis, research and development of 3-D printing technologies. The grand opening was held on November 20, 2015.

  First CCEC Faculty, Staff, Alumni BBQ
20140521_bbq_dean_2_536x400On 21 May 2014, a crowd of 100 gathered to enjoy good food, reconnect with faculty, catch up with colleagues and meet spouses and kids in an informal and fun setting. The group enjoyed being outside in the courtyard between Buildings 50 and 4, where the kids played corn hole, tossed balls and other beach games. The featured game of chance was the “Dunk the Dean” water tank. Dean Tumeo was a good sport and was dunked a dozen times! We will plan to make this an annual event!
