Welcome to the University of North Florida

We are pleased that you have taken an interest in our University, and we hope that you'll continue to explore our web site to learn more about UNF and how you can become part of the Osprey community.

The University of North Florida is a unique place committed to preparing the whole student. Experiential learning is an essential component of an education at UNF. Students not only develop the knowledge and expertise to do their jobs well, but learn in an environment that encourages strong values and a lifelong focus to serving others and their community.

Established in 1972, the University of North Florida has grown significantly in size and prominence - particularly in recent years. Today, UNF has an annual economic impact of more than $1 billion and works closely with community leaders and officials to continue to enhance the significant role it plays in the region. Our campus, which includes a nature preserve, beautiful lakes and nature trails, is located between downtown Jacksonville and the Atlantic Ocean in a bustling section of Jacksonville. Here you'll find award-winning buildings filled with state-of-the-art equipment that support innovation and excellence.

The University is home to six colleges, and routinely ranks high for quality and value on national lists published by U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, the Princeton Review, Wall Street Journal and more. UNF holds the prestigious Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement recognizing our commitment to our community and beyond. Likewise, our flagship programs - nursing, coastal biology, nutrition and dietetics, transportation and logistics, music and international business - continue to gain national attention.

Small class sizes and individualized attention are two of our hallmarks. We're also known for our transformational learning opportunities - life-changing experiences like studying abroad, conducting research with faculty or taking part in community-based learning. These experiences change a person's outlook and can have a significant impact on how a student views the world.

I encourage you to take your time and learn more about the University of North Florida. In less than fifty years, we've come a long way, but there is no doubt that the best is yet to come.
