New Student Orientation - Due to COVID-19, our orientation programming has moved to August 14-16. Orientation will not conflict with first year students moving into their Residence Halls. Students will meet with their advisors via video conferencing before orientation once a student has removed their holds. Advisors will reach out to students directly beginning in mid May once a student has completed all holds.

If you have questions or concerns please contact the Office of New Student Orientation at Our staff has transitioned to work remotely in response to COVID-19, but we are actively responding to emails.

Freshmen Ospreys

We are so excited you have made UNF your choice for college! The next step is to sign up for Orientation. Orientation registration for summer and fall students starting in 2020 will be open at the end of October 2019. We will send you an email and a postcard when reservations open! You will log in to your myWings account to sign up.

We want you to have a strong start as you begin your college life at UNF. We anticipate that you will greet the upcoming years with enthusiasm and confidence and that you will always be proud to be an Osprey! #SWOOP

About New Student Orientation

UNF’s Freshmen Orientation is designed to provide you with key tools and resources necessary to have a successful academic career at UNF.  Filled with informational sessions, academic advising, student life opportunities and meeting and interacting with other incoming Ospreys, this mandatory program is our perfect orientation.

Most New Student Orientation programs consist of two days of activities. The first day consists of meeting your First Year Experience (FYE) Mentor, meeting fellow incoming Osprey students, learning about UNF's traditions and history, housing, life on campus, student involvement opportunities, and university academic expectations. The second day is filled with exciting activities such as academic advising, participating in workshop sessions, and Osprey Kickoff.

A few of the programs are for students and parents to attend together. However, there will be some activities that are just for students (academic advising is a student-only activity). During the time of the student-only programs there will be separate Parent and Family sessions. See the Parent and Family Orientation website  for further details.

Since attending orientation is a factor in your academic success it is MANDATORY that UNF freshmen students attend all functions of the Orientation program. It is not mandatory that parents attend.

If attending an overnight orientation program and you require accessible housing, please contact us at (904) 620-1722 as soon as possible so that necessary arrangements can be made.

Online Orientation

Your transition to the University of North Florida is our absolute highest priority! That being said, we have created Online Orientation for you to participate in, prior to coming to your on-campus Orientation.

Even if you participate online, you will still be required to attend in person too — but this will help make your in person Orientation experience even better! Online Orientation is designed specifically to be a supplement that goes along with our in-person program.

To find Online Orientation, simply log into your myWings account, click the What's Next tile and select the View Online Orientation link.
