Important Update!
Recently, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security published a final rule establishing a fixed period of admission and a new extension of stay process for F students and J exchange visitors. The rule was originally scheduled to take effect on September 15, 2026. However, a federal district court in Massachusetts has temporarily postponed the rule’s effective date. The current duration-of-status admission remains in effect at this time.
