Instructions:
UNF classes are canceled and campus operations remain suspended today, Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 as Hurricane Idalia approaches Florida.
While exact impacts are unknown, the National Weather Service has reported the possibility of tornadoes in Northeast Florida beginning tonight and tropical storm force winds throughout the day tomorrow.
Ensuring the safety of the UNF community continues to be the University's top priority. Residential students should be mindful of their personal safety and are advised to avoid any outdoor activity tomorrow. Shuttle and on-campus dining services for residential students are operating on a limited schedule today. Campus dining facilities are closed tomorrow, and bagged food items are being made available to residential students for pick up today. This information and regular updates are being communicated directly to residential students via email from the Department of Housing and Residence Life.
UNF's Crisis Management Team continues to monitor forecasts and remains in communication with the National Weather Service and other agencies. The University expects to return to normal operations on Thursday, August 31. Another communication will be issued on Wednesday with any updates or changes.

UNF Canceling Classes as Tropical Storm Idalia approaches - Advisory #2
Instructions:
Due to the anticipated weather impacts of Tropical Storm Idalia, the University of North Florida is canceling all classes, including online classes, Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30. University offices will be closed during this time. Activities and events scheduled on campus are also canceled. The University plans to resume normal operations on Thursday, August 31, but will communicate any changes to this plan on Wednesday.
The safety and security of our students, faculty and staff are our top priority. Residential housing will remain open; however, if residential students feel they have a secure place to stay and can travel there safely, they are encouraged to do so. The Osprey Café is continuing to operate on a normal schedule at this time. As conditions worsen, the University will make necessary adjustments but will ensure that residential students have food and shelter. Residential students will be notified of specific directions via emails from the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Shuttle service will operate on a limited schedule after today and will be communicated to residential students.
Any employees who may be required to work before or after the storm will be contacted by their supervisors to discuss work schedules. The University encourages all employees to prepare their homes ahead of the storm.

UNF's Crisis Management Team is closely monitoring Tropical Depression Ten as it develops near the Gulf of Mexico. At this time, the University continues to operate on a normal schedule.
If the weather should impact University operations, alerts will be provided through multiple channels including emails, text messages, phone calls, Safe Ospreys App notifications, social media, the UNF homepage and other communication methods as needed.
Now is the time to consider your personal hurricane plan. UNF department heads should review their department's plan in the event that actions are required this week.
