International Student Admissions Scholarship Guidelines

General Information

The International Student Admissions (ISA) Scholarship serves to offer qualified students tuition assistance towards out-of-state tuition costs. International students (F-1 and J-1 visa students) are typically assessed out-of-state tuition and fees, and this scholarship aims to provide financial assistance towards covering the out-of-state portion of tuition. This scholarship is a restricted scholarship and thus cannot be used for in-state tuition, insurance, housing, etc. You can see the rates per credit hour for out-of-state tuition at UNF (Non-FL Resident) on the UNF Controller Website. Please contact the International Center at intlctrscholarships@unf.edu with any questions concerning eligibility. The ISA Scholarship functions as a waiver, not a cash award, and serves to alleviate a portion of out-of-state tuition fees.

1. In order to qualify, students must be admissible to UNF under existing criteria for degree programs and meet other standards detailed below.
2. The International Center commits to the scholarship for the number of hours required for a given student’s degree program (i.e., NOT simply for the duration of studies or until graduation).
3. The ISA scholarship can offer up to $12,000 worth of out-of-state tuition waivers per academic year. The ISA scholarship cannot be used for any other purposes. ISA Scholarships may be granted for the fall and spring semesters, and, on a limited basis, for the summer terms. Your ISA Scholarship will be renewed automatically for the fall and spring semesters, contingent upon enrollment and academic standing. Summer terms require a new application regardless of current scholarship status.

Eligibility

UNF evaluates candidates based on their academic record, area of specialization, and other supporting documents. The selection process is highly competitive, and awards are limited. To be eligible to receive the ISA Scholarship, the following requirements must be met:
A. Must be an international student (F-1 or J-1 visa).
B. Must be a newly admitted student to UNF. In no event may an ISA Scholarship award be made to a student who is not in good academic standing or is on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Suspension.

Application

Application packages must include:
A. Application Form (all sections filled out).
B. Personal Statement (must be typed) - In this section please describe yourself, your background, why you chose UNF, and how this degree will impact your future.
C. Letter of Recommendation.

The selection committee will not consider incomplete packages.

NOTE: To maintain eligibility while receiving the ISA Scholarship, you must inform the International Center of any changes in: (1) course load, (2) residency status, and/or (3) academic major change.

*Prior to the signature of a scholarship contract, the International Center reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship offer at any time.
