Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Residency

You always thought you would be a great teacher…well, here’s your chance! The UNF Jacksonville Teacher Residency AmeriCorps Program provides Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) teacher candidates an opportunity to serve in a high-needs classroom while completing their teaching certification in elementary, secondary or exceptional student education.

MAT Residents apprentice for a full year (August - June) with a master teacher while enrolled in one of UNF’s MAT Licensure programs.

Program Benefits:

  • Learn and serve in a cohort model with other UNF teacher candidates
  • Network with other JTR teachers during your novice years
  • Receive a minimum of $15,200 living-stipend during residency
  • Receive an Segal Education Award of $5,176 to repay federal student loans or for future tuition costs at the end of your service year
  • Receive paid health, dental and vision insurance during internship semester(s)
  • Receive free CPR-First Aid Training
  • Receive FTCExam reimbursement up to $150 and more!
