    Job Description

    The Department of Housing and Residence Life is looking for graduate students who want to join our team of educators in our mission to transform students to enrich the world through living, learning, and leadership in our communities.     Position Overview

    The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator (ARLC) position is a 10-month (fall and spring semester of academic year with the possibility to negotiate for the summer term), part-time (approximately 20 hours a week), live-in, graduate position within the Department of Housing Residence Life at the University of North Florida. The ARLC serves with their supervisor, the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC), to develop and coordinate a residential community of up to 1,000 students. The ARLC serves as an educator for students in the community and is designated as the manager of their area under the responsibility of their RLC. The ARLC position is designed to offer a progression of experience and responsibilities throughout the potential two-year tenure of the role. 

    General responsibilities of the ARLC position include:

    • Assisting with the selection and training of para-professional residence life staff
    • Coordinating with their supervisor on educational aspects for the residential communities
    • Developing programming and other community development opportunities utilizing a residential curriculum
    • Advising students in area council, RHA, and/or NRHH
    • Serving as a conduct hearing administrator for the Department of Housing & Residence Life
    • Participating in the on-call duty rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Serving on departmental committee(s)
    • Managing response and follow-up related to students of concern and student conduct
    • Creating an inclusive environment that is supportive of students of all identities, advocating for the needs of underrepresented students, and educating the community on matters of diversity and social justice
    • This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that they become aware of. A CSA’s responsibility is a duty to report.
    • This position is a mandatory reporter for alleged discrimination and harassmentt (and other parts of Title IX) or violations of University policy.

    Qualifications

    • The successful candidate has acquired a bachelor’s degree and is enrolled in a graduate program at The University of North Florida for at least 9 credit hours.
    • Preference for this graduate assistantship will be given to students enrolled full-time in the Higher Education Administration graduate program at UNF.
    • 1-2 years of housing and residence life experience

    Compensation

    • $12,012 stipend paid over 10-month period
    • Tuition remission for 9 credits per semester (fall and spring)
    • Large one-bedroom, furnished apartment with access to a washer/dryer, paid utilities, basic digital cable package, and local phone service are provided
    • Some professional development funds available

  • Institutional Effectiveness Graduate Assistant, President's Office, Division of Strategic Analytics, UNF

    There will be two Institutional Effectiveness Graduate Assistant (GA) positions available for the 2022-23 academic year.  

    Job Description

    The GA(s) will assist with Accreditation, Assessment, and Planning responsibilities, including:

    • Facilitation of survey research, assessment and planning design, data collection, and analysis of measures as part of university-wide assessment and planning efforts
    • Maintenance of the Nuventive Platform/TracDat assessment management platform
    • Facilitation of university self-study process
    • Other activities related to accreditation, assessment, and planning

    Increasingly, higher education professionals are asked to use data to measure program effectiveness, strengthen program offerings, and demonstrate that students are achieving intended outcomes. These measures are critical in supporting university accreditation and other continuous improvement efforts, and in better serving student needs. This position is designed to equip students with practical experiences in assessment, accreditation and planning, as well as working across academic and student support areas to to use data to inform action.

    Desired Qualifications

    • The successful candidate has acquired a bachelor’s degree and is enrolled in a graduate program at The University of North Florida for at least 9 credit hours.
    • Preference for this graduate assistantship will be given to students enrolled full-time in the Higher Education Administration graduate program at UNF.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel

    Compensation and Schedule

    • Up to 20 hours per week.
    • Specific schedule to be determined based on needs of the director and of the GA.
    • Stipend: $17.00 to $20.00/hour. Specific hourly wage to be determined based on needs of the director and of the GA. Tuition remission for 9 credits per semester (fall and spring).

  • Graduate Research Assistant, College of Education and Human Services, UNF
    The College of Education and Human Services has several available graduate research assistantship (GRA) packages for the 2021-22 academic year. The priority deadline for applications is March 21st with any remaining positions to be filled out on a a rolling basis.

    These packages include a stipend and tuition waiver depending on the hours worked for master's students enrolled in at least 9 credit hours per semester and for doctoral students at least 6 credit hours per semester. All of these packages are for students enrolled in UNF graduate programs and priority will be given to students enrolled in College of Educations and Human Services programs. Eligible students may reapply each year.

    Graduate assistants may work from 5-20 hours per week for a maximum of 300 hours total for each semester. 20 hours per week or more is preferred. The work is compensated at a rate of $16.67 per hour. A GRA that works 20 hour per work would earn a total of $5,000 over the course of the semester and receive a 100% tuition waiver worth up to $3,673.

    There are two primary types of assistantships- Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs) and Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs). Master's students are eligible to apply for GRA positions while doctoral students are eligible for either GRA or GTA positions and are welcome to apply for both.
