The Department of Communication offers the Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication. Our majors select one of four concentrations:

• Advertising
• Electronic Media
• Journalism
• Public Relations

The Communication Major is one of the largest at the university enrolling 686 in the fall 2007-2008 semester. Jacksonville is a great location for a program like ours. The metro area ranks in the top-50 media markets in the U.S. and is home to a large array of print and electronic media as well as advertising and public relations firms. The department enjoys a solid cooperative relationship with this professional community as is evident from the extensive list of internship opportunities included in this web site.

From the Department Chair.

I joined UNF on August 1, 2007 and I am excited to be here and to have the opportunity to work with great colleagues to achieve continuous improvement for the department. I bring with me the experience I have gained from 33 years in communication higher education including 21 years of administrative experience. I am also excited about the progressive attitude and forward momentum of the university and the opportunities that exist in this dynamic media market. Like UNF the Department of Communication is poised to achieve great things.

As the 2007-2008 academic year progresses you will see our web site change dramatically, so check back often as we seek to provide more and better information for prospective students and their families, for current students, and for our alumni.
