Transfer Student Orientation FAQs

You've got questions...we've got answers! Any additional questions? Contact us!
  • Is Orientation mandatory?

Yes. Orientation is mandatory for transfer students. We understand you have been through the college process previous to attending UNF, but please note that many business practices, policies, and procedures are different than the institution from which you are transferring. We feel it is important you attend the Transfer Orientation program to ensure you have a smooth transition to our institution. If you are unable to attend a scheduled orientation session, please contact newtounf@unf.edu.

  • How long does Orientation take place?

Orientation check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the program takes place from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The afternoon is then yours to take care of any University business such as meeting with an advisor, touring the UNF campus, getting your student identification card (Osprey 1Card), etc.

There is no set time during the Transfer Student Orientation to purchase books, but at the conclusion of the Orientation program, students may purchase their textbooks at the UNF Bookstore in the Student Union or via the UNF Bookstore website

Students may also wait until the first week of classes to purchase or rent textbooks. Please Note: fall textbooks may not be available in the campus bookstore on the day of your orientation session, as they do not generally go on sale until July 1st.
