Whole Child Certificate

Certificate Description 

This program will focus on research, theory, and best practices related to teaching in developmentally and culturally responsive ways. The program will cover educational models to include Montessori, Waldorf, Public Waldorf, and Reggio. The blended model will include face to face, hybrid and online coursework. Periodic opportunities to travel to Perugia, Italy and England to study whole child learning models will be offered.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the certificate will be able to:

  • Implement alternative early childhood educational models into the classroom such as Montessori, Waldorf, Public Waldorf, and Reggio
  • Monitor and contribute to the overall development of the classroom to ensure that students feel positive and accepted by all
  • Educate students on the importance of making healthy decisions such as eating the right foods, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and engaging in regular exercise
  • Build a classroom where problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are part of the culture
  • Use balanced instruction connected to the school and broader community to help students understand and respect different learning styles
  • Design assessment strategies that challenge students to demonstrate their knowledge in an inspired and productive way
