UNF designated as a Collegiate Purple Star Campus

The University of North Florida is proud to be recognized as a Collegiate Purple Star Campus for the 2024-25 academic year by the Florida Department of Education.

“It is an honor to be designated as one of the first Collegiate Purple Star schools in Florida,” said Bob Buehn, director of UNF’s Military and Veterans Resource Center (MVRC). “It validates UNF’s commitment to our military-connected students, who make up more than 10% of our student enrollment. The MVRC is proud to be recognized for our service to our students in helping them transition from the military to higher education to a rewarding career.”

The Collegiate Purple Star Campus Program, established by the Florida legislature in 2023, recognizes public postsecondary sites that make a significant commitment to supporting military families. To be considered for the designation, colleges must prove a commitment to supporting military personnel and their families demonstrated through activities, outreach and additional criteria.

For 14 consecutive years, UNF has been recognized as a top military friendly campus by Military Friendly. Currently, over 2,000 military-connected students attend UNF out of about 17,000 students.
