UNF Names Dr. Glen Besterfield as Dean of Enrollment Management

Headshot of Dr. BesterfieldThe University of North Florida has named Dr. Glen Besterfield as the new dean of enrollment management where he will serve as a key member of the University’s leadership team.

Besterfield will be responsible for providing leadership and vision for the development of programs and services that will yield optimal enrollment in line with the University’s strategic institutional goals, making students its first priority and providing exceptional quality service.

“Glen is an outstanding addition to the University as he brings a wealth of knowledge and higher education admissions experience that will make an immediate and profound impact at UNF,” said UNF President Moez Limayem. “He is a qualified and skilled leader with demonstrated student success and achievements and deep appreciation for the crucial role enrollment services plays in the University and the community.”

Besterfield will work to collaboratively develop and maintain a strategic enrollment plan that clearly communicates institutional direction and guidance for enhancing retention and recruitment outcomes. In addition to admissions, Besterfield’s other areas of concentration at UNF include One-Stop Student Services, Welcome Center, financial aid, records and registration, enrollment operations and processing, orientation and transfer student services.

He has more than 34 years of higher education experience providing strategic vision and leadership in admissions, administration and mechanical engineering environments. He has a strong focus on student success and is an inspirational leader who demonstrates effectiveness in university enrollment and management.

Besterfield most recently served as dean for the Office of Admissions and associate vice president for student success at the University of South Florida (USF) where he provided strategic leadership in overseeing undergraduate, graduate and international admissions. He also served as a faculty member in USF’s mechanical engineering department.

Prior to his role as dean, he served in many other roles at USF including assistant vice president for USF World where he oversaw all global academic partnerships and international admissions, center director for INTO USF, executive academic director for USF’s Academic English Program, and associate dean for undergraduate studies.

Besterfield received a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University, a master’s degree from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree from Missouri University.
