Pratt-Dannals Family Endowed Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Meet admissions requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida.
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate junior or senior in the College of Education and Human Services.
  • Be a graduate of a Duval County high school, with preference given to graduates from Duval County Public Schools.
  • Earn a minimum GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Major in Secondary Science Education or Middle School Math/Science; or in Elementary Education with an interest in in pursuing a teaching career in math or science, with preference given to students who:
    • Wish to teach in an urban school (an urban school is defined as a school with a high percentage of students on free or reduced lunch programs, a high mobility and absentee rate, a high percentage of minority and immigrant students and a high percentage of low socio-economic status students).
    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or demonstrate financial need as defined by the University's Office of Financial Aid.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Enroll full-time (12 credit hours) each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year.
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus.
  • Consent to release grades to the Division of University Development and Alumni Engagement for the purpose of reporting to the Donors.
  • Remain in good standing as a student.

Need-based students must also:

  • File a FAFSA form with the federal government each year.

RENEWAL:

  • Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funding, and if all of the preceding requirements have been met.
  • Recipients will receive an award letter identifying the maximum number of semesters or credit hours eligible for scholarship support.
