Irene Helen McGinley Memorial Scholarship for Urban Education

CRITERIA:

  • Meet admission requirements and be accepted by the University of North Florida.
  • Enroll as an undergraduate junior or senior in the College of Education and Human Services.
  • Reside in Florida for tuition purposes.
  • Earn a minimum GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need as defined by the University's Office of Financial Aid.
  • Major in an area leading to Florida teacher certification, with preference given to students wishing to teach in an urban school.
  • Be selected by a committee chosen by the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Enroll full-time (12 credit hours) each semester and ear a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year.
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 for the junior and senior years.
  • File the FAFSA form with the federal government each year.
  • Comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus.
  • Consent to release grades to the Division of University Development and Alumni Engagement for the purpose of reporting to the Donor.
  • Remain in good standing as a student.

RENEWAL:

  • Current recipients may reapply for scholarship support, pending availability of funding, if all of the preceding requirements have been met. However, current recipients will not be given preference.
  • Recipients will receive an award letter identifying the maximum number of semesters or credit hours eligible for scholarship support.
